What I Actually Wore | 5.11 – 5.17.

What I Actually Wore | 5.11 - 5.17.

We are going to try something new today! I did a little call for feedback and a big request was more real outfit photos + less professionally shot “outfit posts.” This can be hard as most days I don’t have anyone to take my photo (except Tuesdays and Thursdays, when I have my intern Hannah helping out). Quite a few of you also mentioned that I never rewear things which I thought was interesting to me (in my everyday life I rewear things constantly – but that feedback also makes sense – since I show few outfits on my blog you don’t always see it!)

I’ll still do professionally shot outfits here and there (I kind of hate posting iPhone mirror selfies but often don’t have a better alternative!!!) but I thought it would be fun to start a weekly outfit roundup where I share what I actually wore that week. I thought it would also be helpful to share the occasion. This is nothing new – plenty of other bloggers do this already – but I think it will give you a better idea of what I wear on a daily basis (and how I rewear a lot of my older pieces, too!)

Without further ado, here’s what I wore last week. (Didn’t include Friday as I was in pajamas and then workout clothes and then pajamas again!!!) It was fun to pull together so I hope you enjoy.

What I Actually Wore | 5.11 – 5.17.

SATURDAY

the occasion: a memorial service for my friend at a bar in the city. (It feels weird doing a “what I wore” for that but he was the MOST fashionable person so we all brought our A-game to celebrate his life.)

what I wore: Ganni Wrap Dress from last year (similar here; seen on the blog here – also really love this and this and this cute plus option) // Sarah Flint Slingbacks // Palmgrens Rattan Bag // Vintage Chanel Earrings (similar) // Daisy Jewellery x Estee Lalonde Necklace // Flesh Beauty Lip Gloss in A Passing Moment (the perfect sheer red)

SUNDAY

the occasion: tacos & tequila party at my apartment. It was pouring rain all day and I did not leave my house, hence the slippers.

what I wore: Figue Nora Mini Dress (seen in this blog post) // Amazon Fuzzy Slippers (my absolute favorite, I live in them!!!)

MONDAY

the occasion: working at my desk all day and then braving the rain for an early screening of Late Night. (note – screenings are different from premieres – you can be super casual and no one cares what you’re wearing! Also worth noting, this movie is super cute!)

what I wore: Aether Sweater // Prosperity grey jeans (from my Stitchfix Box) // Sam Edelman Heels // Warby Parker Finch Glasses (left them on for the photo as I always get questions; they’re the only glasses that look good on me)

TUESDAY

the occasion: Still raining but I hosted a brunch with M.M. LaFleur to celebrate their new M.M. Casual Line. (The pieces are so GOOD, BTW!)

what I wore: Universal Standard Trench // Amazon Sunglasses // M.M. LaFleur Top (gifted) // M.M. LaFleur Culottes (gifted) // Palmgrens Rattan Bag // Sarah Flint Emma Tortoise Slingbacks

WEDNESDAY

the occasion: drinks at Dear Irving with Becca and Morgan from NYC Book Girl. (We LOVE her!!!)

outfit details: Rhode Ella Dress (Seen on the blog here; this rainbow one is so cute and available up to a size XXL) // Loeffler Randall Emilia Heels // Palmgrens Rattan Bag // BaubleBar Hoop Earrings

THURSDAY

the occasion: recording A Drink With James video + popping by the Longchamp party in Soho. (I had my hair and makeup professionally done to be camera ready.)

outfit details: Celine Sunglasses // gifted Figue Dress (they just extended their size range, btw, now carrying an XXL – the brand runs big so I’d say the XXL would fit an 18-20) // Loeffler Randall Emilia Heels // Chanel Purse // Daisy Jewellery x Estee Lalonde Necklace // MAC Lip Pencil in Whirl (new obsession, just ordered it!)

I think I’m liking this new format of showing your outfits, Grace! Definitely more realistic than made-up photoshoots (though those are fun too, sparingly!). I love your long red dress! 🙂

I gotta say, when bloggers do this kind of post I don’t usually read them because I don’t find them that interesting but the thing is I had never read one so how did I know I didn’t like them? I clicked on yours and I actually enjoyed it, I think when we take pictures for the blog it can have a certain vibe but our everyday style is a bit different because we have different occasions happening on our day to day life and we need to dress accordingly. I found this very interesting, definitely not gonna let another one of these slide haha

Love this! For me, your blog has always struck a good balance of aspirational and relatable, and this feature is the perfect complement to that!

I love this new series Grace!! I also love that you mention whether it was raining or not. hehe- most of us have to dress around the weather and sometimes that gets lost in translation in professional blog photos because the weather is always decent when you’re shooting outside. And I love all your outfits this week! 🙂

This was AMAZING! I loved it, I love the mirror selfies, I love the outfits and the fact that they feel real (even though your professionally shot ones are certainly also real outfits, something about the photoshoot aspect of it feels…not like me heading in to my job on the day to day or out on the weekend). Anyway, keep up the great work!! I’ve been a reader for quite some time and feel that this year you have really pushed yourself and grown and experimented with new things, and I say, BRAVA!!!

This is so fun! I’m a fan of the “regular week of outfits” format with little blurbs about what you were doing that day. I find this format more inspirational in terms of putting together looks from things in my own closet.
