The Perfect Pump. (Truly!)

Grace Atwood is wearing an all black outfit

I know that at times I can be overly effusive when I get really obsessed with something (Dr. Bader, Good American Jeans…) but it’s hard because I just get so excited and need to share, while simultaneously worrying that I sound too “sales-y” babbling on over how much I love them.

This year I became obsessed with Sarah Flint. Cindy Crawford is an investor in her company and at a luncheon we all received a gift card for a free pair of shoes. Cool, free shoes – who doesn’t like that!? After careful consideration I decided on the Emma Slingback. I got them in a cognac suede which is now sold out and wore them constantly (still do but you can see some evidence of that here, here, here, and here). She ended up sending me the slingbacks in tortoise (seen here) which I absolutely love as well.

But today we are here to talk about her Perfect Pump, which Sarah spent TWO YEARS designing until she had a design she felt was truly perfect. You guys, this is a bold statement… but I like them more than my Manolos. They are so stylish (I love the subtle v at the toe box) but also SO COMFORTABLE.

The perfect pump comes in three heights. I am the Goldilocks of high heels. They can’t be too low, but they can’t be too tall! There’s the lowest height (50mm) which is insanely comfortable (I could probably run a few miles in them if need be) but a bit too low, the taller heel (100m) which is so sexy but a bit high for me, and then the mid-height (85mm) which is MY perfect pump. It’s makes your legs and butt look amazing but I can walk in them all day/night, which is the most important thing. They’re the most comfortable heels I own but also one of the best looking pairs. The secret to comfort is all in the proprietary rubber sole, which ensures grip, comfort, and longevity.

I can’t even express how much I love these heels. I want to wear them every single day because they’re just so perfect. Sarah generously gifted me the black pair as a part of our collaboration, but I actually went and bought the nude (it’s called blush nappa but I find it to be more of a nude – I saw it in person at her showroom) and the taupe suede. They’re available in six different colors. Meghan Markle, Lady Gaga, and Karlie Kloss are all fans of the brand!

We have a treat for you! Take $50 off your first pair of Sarah Flint shoes with code GRACE50. I am confident that you will love them as much as I do!

I have shared Sarah’s shoes a lot here and on my instagram stories and get a lot of questions. The biggest was whether the “blush” is a nude. It is. It looks just like the photo on the website; I think they chose “blush” as the name as nude is different for everyone depending on your skin color.

The other question is always about sizing! I am an 8.5 and wear a 39 in all four pairs of shoes that I have from her. I would say that the loafers run a little bit tight but overall, the sizing is true to size.

This is a company I really believe in. Everything is designed in New York by Sarah and then handmade in Italy. Something Sarah says really resonates with me: “As a woman, I understand the frustration of buying shoes that end up sitting in your closet. Because of this, I obsess over the details of fit and construction to make the most comfortable and durable shoes, never sacrificing an ounce of style.

YES! I have sold so many of my pricier heels on The RealReal and now I obsess over making sure the shoes I buy are both comfortable and beautiful. These fit the bill 1,000%

I hope you love this brand as much as I do! Again, don’t forget – GRACE50 will get you $50 off your first pair!

It makes me happy when I see you partnering with brands you’ve talked about for a long time before (like hinge and Sarah Flint). Your partnerships always feel so authentic!

Aw thank you Rachel! Makes me happy too. Also says a lot about the brand… a lot of brands could easily be like “oh well she’s already talking about us, we don’t have to pay her!” So it was really cool when they reached out to partner – I was so happy (also happy to have a code to give you guys!!!) Hinge was another good example of that!!!!

Love this outifit- black is the best. Those pumps look comfortable even in pictures which says a lot. I need to get my hands on them- I need to wear pumps to work sometimes and I always look for something elegant but not too uncomfortable to run around the city.

Those pumps are gorgeous and I definitely need a new pair as my old ones are completely ruined from a day I spend walking in a pier at the beach and the wooden floor ruined the soles beyond repair. I’m gonna check those out, they seem super comfortable.

I recently bought the blush pair and have been really happy so far – thanks for the recommendation! To me they are a bit pinky, like they look like online, but I love the shade. The first time I wore them they started hurting by the end of the night, but I think that was a break-in phase, now they are super comfy!

I am so glad you love them! There’s definitely a (brief!) break in period but they are the most comfortable high heels I own!

Thank you! I’ve been itching to try these and your code made me pull the trigger on the black pair. Totally agree 85mm is the perfect height, and is surprisingly hard to find!

Exactly! Why are stilettos always a kitten heel or sky high! This is the perfect happy medium.

Love everything about this outfit. I’ve been really curious about these heels since you’ve talked about them on instagram and the podcast so much! I’m just THE WORST at walking in heels. Seriously – it’s not a pretty look. Any tips on how to walk in heels? It’s something I’d love to finally master!

    • grace at the stripe:

Hmmm… I think it’s just practice and finding the right pair! I am terrible at walking in heels when they aren’t comfortable! Luckily I’ve found some brands (these, Margaux, Marion Parke) that are REALLY comfortable. I think it’s mostly about just finding the right pair and then wearing them a lot til you get better at it!

This post comes at the perfect time, as I love reading/hearing your opinion on items. I’ve been eyeing Sarah Flint pumps for a few months now, but having just returned to work after four years of being a stay-at-home cat mom, I’m finally ready to pull the trigger. I’m thinking the 85mm height is perfect for work and play. Thanks for featuring these shoes! Next up on my list to buy: Dr. Bader’s cream!

This post was so helpful! I have been thinking about purchasing these since you first mentioned them and I was seeing them on the royals (I really love seeing what Meghan Markle wears, I can’t help it). I was wondering, does Sarah Flint have a brick and mortar store in NYC? I would really love to try them on for size before purchasing (I own shoes in size 9, 9.5, and 10 depending on brands). If not I will probably still pull the trigger since you got us a great discount code. Thank you so much Grace!

They don’t – yet!!!! I find them to be very true to size (8.5 almost always, and always a 39 in sarah flint!)
