Popping in to share a cozy winter white look that I’m loving right now! When Pamela Munson sent me this dreamy flap bag from her new resort collection I wasn’t entirely positive how I would style it. The answer was (and always is?) winter white. I know I’ll wear it a ton in the Spring or on vacation but for now I really love how it juxtaposes with soft cashmere. Speaking of cashmere, this silk cashmere sweater is the softest thing I own. It’s heavenly and I can’t stop wearing it. Eileen Fisher can truly do no wrong when it comes to combining cozy and chic.

Today though I want to talk about winter TV! I am in full on hibernate mode. Scroll down for a few favorite recs and tell me what you’re watching in the comments! I’m about to finish The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and could use some more suggestions for when I finish that. I typically like feel good shows (like Younger, Mrs. Maisel, and This Is Us though I quit that when Jack died), or anything thriller-y about crime, spies, politics, or lawyers… (think The Good Wife, The West Wing, ScandalHouse of Cards, etc.) Oh and then I guess there’s the weirder fantasy stuff like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things. My tastes are kind of all over the board but I could really use some recommendations.

Before we talk TV… I got a few requests for a headband/turban styling tutorial on Instagram and I would just say it’s a lot of trial and error and depends on the shape of your head. Honestly, I really love this one as it’s stretchy – I have a large head! I think the key two success is two things. First of all, make sure you angle the headband downward toward your ears as opposed to trying to wear it totally horizontal. The other tip I have is that when you put it on, pull your hair back into a low loose ponytail first to make sure there aren’t any bumps! Then put your headband on (angling down) and take the ponytail out.

I hope that’s helpful. I’m certainly not a styling expert but played around quite a bit to get it perfect and now it’s really easy.

And for a more affordable option try this, this, or this!

5 TV Shows I’m Loving Right Now

one // The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

(Amazon) Okay if you’re not watching, fix that immediately. This show is so cute, it’s so funny, it’s so happy, the costumes are amazing… it’s the perfect thing to watch if you are tired/stressed/having a bad day. Midge Maisel is left by her husband and totally blindsided. This is the story of her finding her independence, discovering an unknown talent, and coming into her own. I could not love it more… such a feel good show.

two // The Bodyguard.

(Netflix) Holy anxiety. It’s only 6 episodes long but packs a PUNCH. I don’t even know how to describe how stressed out I was watching the last episode. It’s a must watch if you’re into a thriller!

three // The Good Place

(NBC or Hulu) This is such a fun, fresh show, and I like that it’s under half an hour. It’s perfect after a long day when you just need a funny little distraction. I dragged my feet a little through the first season and then there was a big twist. Ever since that twist I’ve been totally hooked.

four // Younger

(Paramount or Hulu) This is one of my most favorite shows. I’m including it not because I’m watching it right now but because I just love it so much and if you don’t already watch it I want you to start watching immediately. It won’t be back until June, but when it does, my DVR is already set. Liza Miller is a publishing assistant who lied about her age (she was 40 and claimed to be 26) to get a job. Slowly her secret gets out, a hot and heavy love triangle emerges.

five // Game of Thrones

(HBO) Gahhhhhh finally! It’s back in April so I may try to re-watch the last few seasons in anticipation (if I can’t find something better to watch!) I can’t believe this is the last season but am so excited for it to finally be here. This is my favorite TV show and the reason Tyrion is called Tyrion. I heard there may be a prequel, but am still so sad it’s the last season!

Lastly, two TV-related things that bummed me out: I just found out that one of my favorite shows, Good Behavior, is cancelled! Womp. And I couldn’t get into this season of House of Cards. Anyone else? Is it worth another try? I am not sure I can do it.

Just finished Bodyguard last night. So good and Richard Madden could not be hotter. As for other shows, if you’ve never done Broad City, Sons of Anarchy, Shameless, 30 Rock, Mad Men, Six Feet Under (my fave) … all wonderful. I’m going to watch Sherlock next.

    Love this outfit!

I’ve been meaning to start Younger and the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, I’ve heard so many good things about both! This summer I got hooked on The Bold Type (about a group of twentysomething women working for a fashion magazine in Manhattan) and I also love Mad Men, Man in the High Castle, Downtown Abbey, Friday Night Lights (such a classic), and Grey’s Anatomy. If you’re in the mood for something cozy, I love The Great British Baking Show!

Have you tried Peaky Blinders? Sooo good, even though I’m sometimes really mad at the show (similar to GOT in that way). All four seasons are on Netflix and Tommy Shelby is a snack.

I unabashedly love Dynasty— would recommend. Somewhere between Gossip Girl and Revenge (but reliably errs camp instead of going [stress-inducingly] dark and suspenseful).

Also, another vote for Peaky Blinders. I went into it kicking and screaming (agreed to watch it for a boy) but LOVED it by episode 2. Agree that it has a Game of Thrones/Mad Men “big” narrative feel.

And I haven’t watched the Netflix Sabrina yet, but if you do, report back.

Love Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! Other feel good shows I’d recommend are Queer Eye, Parks & Rec, I’m Sorry, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Bob’s Burgers, Happy Endings, New Girl — I could go on lol. Clearly I’m also in hibernation binge watch mode. For thrillers, I just finished Jack Ryan and it was stressful but overall a good miniseries!

Schitt’s Creek, 100%. All four seasons are on Netflix, and their holiday show premieres next wk and season 5 in mid-January – first on Pop and then Netflix. I also recently binged all of The Goldbergs on Hulu and was surprised by how funny it was. If you’re a Good Place/Mike Schur fan, Brooklyn 99 and the OG, Parks and Rec.

We have the same taste in TV – I love Younger, Mrs. Maisel, and The Good Place. Trust me when I say – the answer is Schitt’s Creek. It takes a few episodes to get into but then it is SO funny. I started watching last year, caught up fast, and was devastated when I realized I’d have to wait until January for the next season. It’s the best!

    12.12.18 Reply
    • Shelley:

My husband and I are on season 2 of Schitt’s Creek. Hilarious!! I also love the MMM- I’m half-way through season 2. I watched the last season of House of Cards- because I used to love it and felt I need the closure. It was awful. Just awful. Ugh. So unfortunate. I could barely watch the darn show and honestly not even sure what the heck even happened.

I really love the Affair, Homeland, MindHunter, Ozark and Broadchurch (a British mystery show). Also 13 Reasons Why is a good watch, as is Shameless- which is a train wreck that I can’t stop watching lol.

I can’t wait to try the Bodyguard now, it’s on my to watch list, as is the Haunting of Hill House- which I have been told is more thriller than horror. I am not a horror show fan.

Cannot recommend Schitt’s Creek enough, it is laugh out loud funny. A bit of an out of date show (but I rewatch all the time!) is Veep. Julia Louis Dreyfus is hysterical on another level!

Ok I’m a crazy tv watcher. Here are a few top of mind suggestions. Some are not feel good but really well done. I have many more suggestions.
    1. The Sinner – first season stars Jessica Beal …. very good. Second season good as well.
    2. Ozark – Jason Bateman/Laura Linney…good family gone to the dark side in a small town. Crime/drama
    3. Hunter – female spy series – British – great to see a beautiful women who is strong and intelligent in a typical male role
    4. The Night Of – this is SO good but sad – the commentary is about our corrupt judicial system and what prison does to a young “good” kid falsely accused of murder – filmed in NYC – great acting
    5. Bloodline – Kyle Chandler – family saga – Sissy Spacek
    6. Speaking of Kyle Chandler – did you watch Friday Night Lights? Texas drama
    7. I love a good comedy and have watched every episode if Where’s Raymond and King if Queens….they are really fun. Reruns every night in TV Land.
    8. Echo Madmen and LOVED Sons of Anarchy.
I promise I do have a life!!!! Happy watching.

Haha maybe I will! I felt like it was total emotional blackmail.
And I do love historical shows! Loved both The Crown and Victoria! xo

Grace, we have the same taste in TV shows (except Game of Thrones gets a little violent for me!). Did you ever watch Covert Affairs with Piper Perabo? I was gutted when it was cancelled. SO good with the best slow-build love story with Christopher Gorham and CIA thriller/action twists. Plus, they filmed all over the world so it’s a bit of a travelogue, too.
