Popping in to share a cozy winter white look that I’m loving right now! When Pamela Munson sent me this dreamy flap bag from her new resort collection I wasn’t entirely positive how I would style it. The answer was (and always is?) winter white. I know I’ll wear it a ton in the Spring or on vacation but for now I really love how it juxtaposes with soft cashmere. Speaking of cashmere, this silk cashmere sweater is the softest thing I own. It’s heavenly and I can’t stop wearing it. Eileen Fisher can truly do no wrong when it comes to combining cozy and chic.

Today though I want to talk about winter TV! I am in full on hibernate mode. Scroll down for a few favorite recs and tell me what you’re watching in the comments! I’m about to finish The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and could use some more suggestions for when I finish that. I typically like feel good shows (like Younger, Mrs. Maisel, and This Is Us though I quit that when Jack died), or anything thriller-y about crime, spies, politics, or lawyers… (think The Good Wife, The West Wing, ScandalHouse of Cards, etc.) Oh and then I guess there’s the weirder fantasy stuff like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things. My tastes are kind of all over the board but I could really use some recommendations.

Before we talk TV… I got a few requests for a headband/turban styling tutorial on Instagram and I would just say it’s a lot of trial and error and depends on the shape of your head. Honestly, I really love this one as it’s stretchy – I have a large head! I think the key two success is two things. First of all, make sure you angle the headband downward toward your ears as opposed to trying to wear it totally horizontal. The other tip I have is that when you put it on, pull your hair back into a low loose ponytail first to make sure there aren’t any bumps! Then put your headband on (angling down) and take the ponytail out.

I hope that’s helpful. I’m certainly not a styling expert but played around quite a bit to get it perfect and now it’s really easy.

And for a more affordable option try this, this, or this!

5 TV Shows I’m Loving Right Now

one // The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

(Amazon) Okay if you’re not watching, fix that immediately. This show is so cute, it’s so funny, it’s so happy, the costumes are amazing… it’s the perfect thing to watch if you are tired/stressed/having a bad day. Midge Maisel is left by her husband and totally blindsided. This is the story of her finding her independence, discovering an unknown talent, and coming into her own. I could not love it more… such a feel good show.

two // The Bodyguard.

(Netflix) Holy anxiety. It’s only 6 episodes long but packs a PUNCH. I don’t even know how to describe how stressed out I was watching the last episode. It’s a must watch if you’re into a thriller!

three // The Good Place

(NBC or Hulu) This is such a fun, fresh show, and I like that it’s under half an hour. It’s perfect after a long day when you just need a funny little distraction. I dragged my feet a little through the first season and then there was a big twist. Ever since that twist I’ve been totally hooked.

four // Younger

(Paramount or Hulu) This is one of my most favorite shows. I’m including it not because I’m watching it right now but because I just love it so much and if you don’t already watch it I want you to start watching immediately. It won’t be back until June, but when it does, my DVR is already set. Liza Miller is a publishing assistant who lied about her age (she was 40 and claimed to be 26) to get a job. Slowly her secret gets out, a hot and heavy love triangle emerges.

five // Game of Thrones

(HBO) Gahhhhhh finally! It’s back in April so I may try to re-watch the last few seasons in anticipation (if I can’t find something better to watch!) I can’t believe this is the last season but am so excited for it to finally be here. This is my favorite TV show and the reason Tyrion is called Tyrion. I heard there may be a prequel, but am still so sad it’s the last season!

Lastly, two TV-related things that bummed me out: I just found out that one of my favorite shows, Good Behavior, is cancelled! Womp. And I couldn’t get into this season of House of Cards. Anyone else? Is it worth another try? I am not sure I can do it.

  1. This is one of my favourite outfits from you, Grace! I love the light, neutral colours for winter! 🙂 Also – I totally need to start watching Younger. I keep hearing about it!

  2. Megan says 12.12.18

Grace, this is one of my favorite looks on you! The coat, belt, shoes, bag, everything = perfection!!

  3. Melissa says 12.12.18

Just finished Bodyguard last night. So good and Richard Madden could not be hotter. As for other shows, if you’ve never done Broad City, Sons of Anarchy, Shameless, 30 Rock, Mad Men, Six Feet Under (my fave) … all wonderful. I’m going to watch Sherlock next.

  4. dana mannarino says 12.12.18

Ordering those sling backs now, they’re SO good! Also one of the best classic looks on you, Grace!

As far as TV, I don’t really watch much except for some bad reality TV and Riverdale 😉

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

Thanks Dana! I couldn’t get into Riverdale! Ugh, need a new winter TV show to be obsessed with! xo

  5. Rowena says 12.12.18

    Love this outfit!

I’ve been meaning to start Younger and the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, I’ve heard so many good things about both! This summer I got hooked on The Bold Type (about a group of twentysomething women working for a fashion magazine in Manhattan) and I also love Mad Men, Man in the High Castle, Downtown Abbey, Friday Night Lights (such a classic), and Grey’s Anatomy. If you’re in the mood for something cozy, I love The Great British Baking Show!

  6. Jenn Lake says 12.12.18

Living for these winter neutrals! Also, so much yes to MMM and The Good Place – love those shows!

  7. Tara says 12.12.18

I am loving A Million Little Things right now. It’s the first season so you can easily catch up.

  8. Danielle Nordahl says 12.12.18

Have you tried Peaky Blinders? Sooo good, even though I’m sometimes really mad at the show (similar to GOT in that way). All four seasons are on Netflix and Tommy Shelby is a snack.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

I’ve heard such good things! Thanks for the suggestion!

      • Lucy says 12.12.18

I unabashedly love Dynasty— would recommend. Somewhere between Gossip Girl and Revenge (but reliably errs camp instead of going [stress-inducingly] dark and suspenseful).

Also, another vote for Peaky Blinders. I went into it kicking and screaming (agreed to watch it for a boy) but LOVED it by episode 2. Agree that it has a Game of Thrones/Mad Men “big” narrative feel.

And I haven’t watched the Netflix Sabrina yet, but if you do, report back.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

Also I need to use “snack” like that more often!!! Love it!

  9. Danielle says 12.12.18

Love Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! Other feel good shows I’d recommend are Queer Eye, Parks & Rec, I’m Sorry, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Bob’s Burgers, Happy Endings, New Girl — I could go on lol. Clearly I’m also in hibernation binge watch mode. For thrillers, I just finished Jack Ryan and it was stressful but overall a good miniseries!

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

Thank you so much for the suggestion. Jack Ryan sounds like exactly what I’m looking for!

  10. Mieke Smith says 12.12.18

You must watch Jack Ryan on Amazon!! Cross between Bodyguard (sooooooo good) and Homeland. But with slightly more humor and charm thanks to John Krasinski.

  11. Grace says 12.12.18

If you like the Good Place, I think you will like Superstore! It has a diverse cast, and it tackles timely issues but in a really hilarious way.

    • Grace says 12.12.18

Also have to second the recs for Killing Eve! And another one is Kim’s Convenience on Netflix – so funny!

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

Oooh adding to my list! Thanks, Grace! (Great name, BTW!) 😉

  12. Amy says 12.12.18

Thanks for the TV recommendations!! I am also waiting for GOT to come back and don’t have another go-to at the moment, but I’ve been intrigued by the Good Place, so I’ll check it out! Another fun, light show is Community. It’s an old one, but I just watched in on Hulu for the first time this past year. The first three seasons are pretty hilarious.

  13. Caitlin says 12.12.18

I am loving dirty John on Bravo!

  14. Rachel says 12.12.18

Schitt’s Creek, 100%. All four seasons are on Netflix, and their holiday show premieres next wk and season 5 in mid-January – first on Pop and then Netflix. I also recently binged all of The Goldbergs on Hulu and was surprised by how funny it was. If you’re a Good Place/Mike Schur fan, Brooklyn 99 and the OG, Parks and Rec.

  15. Leah says 12.12.18

We have the same taste in TV – I love Younger, Mrs. Maisel, and The Good Place. Trust me when I say – the answer is Schitt’s Creek. It takes a few episodes to get into but then it is SO funny. I started watching last year, caught up fast, and was devastated when I realized I’d have to wait until January for the next season. It’s the best!

    • Shelley says 12.12.18

My husband and I are on season 2 of Schitt’s Creek. Hilarious!! I also love the MMM- I’m half-way through season 2. I watched the last season of House of Cards- because I used to love it and felt I need the closure. It was awful. Just awful. Ugh. So unfortunate. I could barely watch the darn show and honestly not even sure what the heck even happened.

I really love the Affair, Homeland, MindHunter, Ozark and Broadchurch (a British mystery show). Also 13 Reasons Why is a good watch, as is Shameless- which is a train wreck that I can’t stop watching lol.

I can’t wait to try the Bodyguard now, it’s on my to watch list, as is the Haunting of Hill House- which I have been told is more thriller than horror. I am not a horror show fan.

      • Emma says 12.12.18

Cannot recommend Schitt’s Creek enough, it is laugh out loud funny. A bit of an out of date show (but I rewatch all the time!) is Veep. Julia Louis Dreyfus is hysterical on another level!

        • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

everyone is suggesting schitt’s creek! I watched a few episodes a while ago and couldn’t get into it. Will have to reinvestigate! x

      • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

ughhhhhhh i’m so bummed about HoC!!! C’est la vie.

Sounds like we have similar taste in shows, you just listed off so many favs!!!

You’re going to LOVE the bodyguard, keep me posted when you watch it! The last episode is insane!

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

okay, you have me convinced that i need to give it another try!! We DO have the same taste in TV! Thank you Leah!!!

  16. Cindy Brown says 12.12.18

I loved Good Behavior. It was filmed here in Wilmington, NC where I live. It was fun to look at the scenery and figure out exactly where they were. I was completely confused with this season of House of cards as well. Have you seen supernatural?

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

i love when that happens, so fun!

I haven’t seen Supernatural but am going to check it out!

  17. Jessica Camerata says 12.12.18

LOVE this look on you! I need to watch the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ASAP! Heard such good things about it. The shows I love to re-watch in case there’s nothing good on are The Office and Friends.

    xo Jessica
    My Style Vita

  18. Cy says 12.12.18

I’ll bet you would love “Man in high castle”. Loving “The Body Guard” too! The Great American Baking show, not as good as the British version but still fun. I really enjoy most of the Amazon series. Have you watched ” Mozart in the Jungle”? really funny and sweet. I can’t wait to the the 2nd season of “Mrs. Maisel”!

  19. Taylor says 12.12.18

Watch A Million Little Things!! So good!

  20. Sydney says 12.12.18

I was never one to watch TV shows as they came out (binge life forever lol), but this season I’ve really been keeping up with A Million Little Things (kind of like This is Us but different) and New Amsterdam (I usually hate medical shows but this one isn’t like others I’ve seen), and the newest season of Law and Order SVU! I’ve been wanting to start Camping on HBO. Gilmore Girls is always my fallback, though!

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

thank you so much for the suggestions, sydney! intrigued by a million little things!

  21. Kelly says 12.12.18

For a thriller I loved Killing Eve. Super suspenseful story of a M16 agent (Sandra Oh) hunting an assassin, and both the M16 agent and the assassin are strong female leads!

    • MarciaMarciaMarcia says 12.12.18

Killing Eve is soooo good! And I’m bummed to learn Good Behavior got cancelled. It has some problems, but I enjoyed it.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

      i really enjoyed that too!

    • Cy says 12.12.18

      I love it too!

  22. Rachel says 12.12.18

This outfit is giving me the feels! Love, love, love. I need to start watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel this weekend, it looks so good!

  23. Meredith says 12.12.18

For anyone that knits and wants a similar headband (no idea how many knitters there are out there!) this pattern is quick and easy!

  24. Bridget says 12.12.18

I powered through the last season of House of Cards just to see how it ended and I would definitely say NOT worth it. This season was t e r r i b l e.

Two shorter comedies you might like are I’m Sorry and You’re the Worst! Also agree with Superstore and Schitt’s Creek

  25. Emily says 12.12.18

    Love your outfit!
I’m way behind on tv but would like to try MMM and Younger–they both seem up my alley. I like both Crazy Ex Girlfriend and the Good Place. And I like American Vandal and Great News, both of which I think have been canceled.
On Netflix, there’s an Australian show, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, that I really enjoyed and you might too–beautiful clothes!

  26. Janet says 12.12.18

The Good Fight (the Good Wife spinoff) is fantastic – totally worth paying for CBS All Access. I had hesitated to watch it because I loved The Good Wife so much and felt like it would be a let-down but it’s really great.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

That’s so good to know. I was a HUGE Good Wife fan!!!

    • Shelley says 12.12.18

I second the Good Fight! Love it!

  27. Mary says 12.12.18

Dirty John was a great true crime podcast but the TV show on Bravo is even better. Starting Connie Britton and Eric Bana. Can watch on demand.

Also, Sharp Objects on HBO was scary and good.

  28. Nikki says 12.12.18

    Marcella – its excellent!

  29. Renee says 12.12.18

Love your blog! Couldn’t get into this season of House of Cards either. Really enjoying Dirty John on Bravo. It’s based on a true story and was a podcast.

  30. Jennifer says 12.12.18

I know some people have already suggested these but am seconding Jack Ryan and Killing Eve. I also enjoyed both seasons of The Sinner. Big Little Lies was great and I still DVR Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Place and The Big Bang Theory – so sad its TBBT last season!

  31. Ashley says 12.12.18

Love all these shows! I’m having a YOUNGER rewatch now. Waiting to watch season 2 of Mrs. Maisel for when I can really sit and watch it.

I just watched Sweetbitter on Starz and I thought that was good. I felt it captured a lot from the book.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.12.18

I looooved Sweetbitter! It looks like it got cancelled though??

      • Ashley says 12.13.18

They actually renewed it this summer! They just finished filming season 2!

Also I just finished the Facebook series Sorry for your Loss – it was fantastic!

        • grace at the stripe says 12.13.18

Oh no way! That’s great to hear!!! The girl who plays the main character goes to my yoga studio.

  32. Niff says 12.12.18

A Million Things – if you like This is Us and/or Friends from College…actually enjoying it more than This is Us!

  33. Elizabeth says 12.12.18

Jack Ryan I finished in a weekend, it was so good! I also love Man in the High Castle, Schitts Creek and Shameless is one of my favorite shows. I’ve seen and loved all but the Bodyguard on your list but maybe I’ll start that next!!

Also, this is the best outfit! Looks great on you!

  34. Karen says 12.12.18

Ok I’m a crazy tv watcher. Here are a few top of mind suggestions. Some are not feel good but really well done. I have many more suggestions.
    1. The Sinner – first season stars Jessica Beal …. very good. Second season good as well.
    2. Ozark – Jason Bateman/Laura Linney…good family gone to the dark side in a small town. Crime/drama
    3. Hunter – female spy series – British – great to see a beautiful women who is strong and intelligent in a typical male role
    4. The Night Of – this is SO good but sad – the commentary is about our corrupt judicial system and what prison does to a young “good” kid falsely accused of murder – filmed in NYC – great acting
    5. Bloodline – Kyle Chandler – family saga – Sissy Spacek
    6. Speaking of Kyle Chandler – did you watch Friday Night Lights? Texas drama
    7. I love a good comedy and have watched every episode if Where’s Raymond and King if Queens….they are really fun. Reruns every night in TV Land.
    8. Echo Madmen and LOVED Sons of Anarchy.
I promise I do have a life!!!! Happy watching.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.13.18

OMG I love this – thank you for the thoughtful comment (and all the recs!!) xo

  35. Christina Peterson says 12.13.18

Binge reading all your posts from the last two weeks I’m so behind but l love this look on you! Winter Whites are so classic!! AND YES YOUR BLOG IS SO BINGE WORTHY!!!

  36. Megan says 12.13.18

Alllll about a good political/lawyer drama, The Good Wife is one of my favorite shows ever! Recently been binging Madam Secretary and I’ve been obsessed!!!

  37. CAITLIN says 12.13.18

    Hi Grace-

I love this whole look! The soft neutrals look so chic on you.

I am loving Ray Donovan right now-so suspenseful! I look forward to it all week. And binge watching all the prior seasons is fun, too!

  38. Logan Christine says 12.13.18

Oh Grace you got to give This Is Us another chance! Jack is still in it a LOT and his story is just beginning. Seriously you won’t regret picking it back up. Also I’m in love with Younger! I wish it was a full hour because 30 minutes just isn’t enough. You didn’t list liking historical shows like the Crown, but I thought I’d recommend Victoria anyways. You can watch on Amazon Prime and it’s so good!
    xoxo Logan

    • grace at the stripe says 12.13.18

Haha maybe I will! I felt like it was total emotional blackmail.
And I do love historical shows! Loved both The Crown and Victoria! xo

  39. Annie says 12.23.18

Grace, we have the same taste in TV shows (except Game of Thrones gets a little violent for me!). Did you ever watch Covert Affairs with Piper Perabo? I was gutted when it was cancelled. SO good with the best slow-build love story with Christopher Gorham and CIA thriller/action twists. Plus, they filmed all over the world so it’s a bit of a travelogue, too.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.23.18

I too was devastated when it got cancelled. Such a bummer!!!!
