In today’s episode of the podcast, Becca and I go through our summer beauty routines. All the products we’re using and loving right now… changes we’ve made to our beauty routines, and so much more. I wanted to recap all of the products we talked about here though!
The Best New Beauty Products We’ve Tried This Summer.
- Grace:
- Dr. Bader Body Cream (link to blog post with more info)
- Beautypie Super Retinol Hand Cream (use code GRACESENTME for $50 extra allowance) // my absolute favorite hand cream ever. I have always had older looking hands and this makes a real difference!
- Kosas Tinted Face Oil (your perfect vacation foundation/dewy radiance with just a little bit of coverage)
- Revlon HD Shine Liquid Lipstick in She’s on Fire (the perfect red-orange!)
- Le Labo Shower Oil (the mandarin scent is amazing!!!)
- Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Bronzing Drops (mix 1-2 drops in with your favorite moisturizer for the perfect sun kissed glow!)
- Herbivore Bakuchiol Plant-Based Retinol (full review of it in this blog post!)
Becca:
-
- Vintner’s Daughter Serum
- Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream (my obsession too; see my blog post about it here!)
- Dr Bader Rich Cream – she’s not sold on it (I joked that I’m heartbroken that this is just evidence that not every product is for everyone!)
- BeautyPie Lipsticks (use code GRACESENTME for $50 extra allowance)
- Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer (my favorite as well, when we got our makeup done for the New York live show Cassandra got us both hooked!)
- Clark’s Botanicals Deep Moisture Mask
SPF + Self Tanning
- I’m still really liking the Beautycounter tinted SPF. Sunscreen is so tricky!!!
- Spray tans at Sweetheart Tan in Williamsburg (it’s organic!)
- I have been testing a lot of “clean” self-tanners with natural DHA. DHA (natural or chemical) isn’t great for you (read more about that here) but I like being tan so I’m doing my best to use the cleanest possible formulas. Coola Self Tanner was just medium… it left quite a few streaks. I like the Isle of Paradise gradual tanner much better. For face, I mix a few Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops in with moisturizer.
Skincare Updates?
Grace:
- Have been breaking out more than usual; got a facial at Christine Chin Spa – I see Coco!
- Sometimes I find I need a lighter moisturizer in this heat. I like Sisleyouth a lot as it sinks in immediately.
- TONER is essential. Acwell is my favorite.
- Face mists on my person at all times – the small size of the Caudalie beauty elixir is everything!
Becca:
- She swears by Weleda Skin Food on heels. (I use this on my face and am going to have to try it!!)
Hair:
Grace:
- Keratin Treatment at Fekkai (blog post here)
- Living Proof Anti-Frizz Line – especially love the instant defrizzer spray!
Becca:
- Summer hair routine: straighten my hair, ponytail, big earrings
Nails
Grace:
- Bare nails; or Essie Mademoiselle
- Other colors I am medium on: Essie Geranium, Clambake, or Fiji!
Becca:
- Very into light purple; otherwise shell pink or neutral.
Verrry Minimal Summer Makeup Routines!
Grace:
- Right now I am using as little makeup as possible because I am melttttting! I love a spray tan/self tan bc you can get away with less makeup. If I have a faux tan I will just do a little tinted moisturizer, a tinted lip balm, brows (pencil + something to hold them in place), blush, mascara.
Becca:
- Way more minimal. Wonderglow Primer and concealer. Then blush. Brows, Mascara, maybe a fun sheer lip. Very into anything that makes you look like you just had a popsicle.
- Like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina palette… the gold and rose gold are great to brush on with fingers!
Favorite Fragrances
Grace:
- Byredo Sundazed
- Orange Blossom Oil (bought mine at a little pharmacy in Morocco)
- Orange Blossom Perfume from the Coqui Coqui in Mexico.
Hot Weather products/saviors.
- Favorite deodorants?
- Grace: Kopari Charcoal Deodorant (review here) or Vapour Palo Santo / Blood Orange
- Other products?
- Grace: Flamingo Wax Strips
- Becca: Megababe Thigh Rescue Stick

Thanks Charmaine!
Amazing suggestions, I’ve wanted a light purple/lavender nail polish for months now and I haven’t been able to find one yet, good to see I’m not the only one loving that colour haha since I only use cruelty-free cosmetics, it’s been proving a bit hard to find one but I’ll keep looking
Thanks Marta!
I’m loving the Isle of Paradise drops but keep forgetting to actually use them!! And so excited for you to be in ATL!

I can’t wait! We will have to get drinks!!
just got ticket for me and my sister for the Atlanta show! Cant wait!
YAY! See you there!
Loved the podcast this morning, especially all of these new beauty updates. Also, I appreciate you sharing your dating story to confirm to us fellow NYC gals that dating here is the WORST! I thought as I got older (35 now) that it would get easier, but ugh, it’s so bad out there. I also totally agree with you — I’m not asking a guy up until a couple of dates in.
Oh good I’m so glad!!!! It’s so funny, dating really is so strange (I try to stay positive and not say it’s the worst), but the trouble seems to be that everyone either wants to settle down ASAP and have kids SOON, or have a one night stand. There isn’t really anything in the middle, which is what I’m looking for!
I am SO excited to see you guys in Dallas! I’m bringing my husband, haha!
YAY! WE are so excited to get to Dallas!!!!
I just bought my tickets for your San Francisco show! I love Essie Clam bake, I can’t find it. I thought they stopped making it. Geranium is always good and Mademoiselle is a classic! I’m loving the Beauty pie Japanfusion toner, if you haven’t tried it. Moisturizing !
YAY i am so excited! Looking forward to meeting you!
Essie Clambake is still alive and well: https://shopstyle.it/l/6J4b xo
Love the recs, Grace & Becca! I’m trying the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, the banana eye cream, the Acwell toner & the Isle of Paradise tanning drops. I’m going to give the Dr. Bader cream a try once winter rolls around. I love the pod and the blog – keep up the great work!
thank you!
Fun episode today! Please share the Dyson fan you mentioned. We have a/c but it’s just not enough for the summer temps we’ve had lately and I love the idea of air purification as well!
Of course! It’s this one! https://shopstyle.it/l/6NTy
Awesome, thank you!
Why I have I never put Skin Food on my heels? Genius!
I am so interested to try BeautyPie but I think I have to wait until the huge Sephora order I put in arrives. You’ve had so many great recs this summer – thank you!
Right? So smart!!!!
And happy you’re enjoying all the recs. xoxo
Will you give me the low down on the Beautypie membership? I think I am in need of this hand cream but wondering what your take is on joining Beautypie. Thanks!!
Yes! I have a full post about it here: https://thestripe.com/beauty-pie-review/
Speaking of Sunscreen I follow @just.ingredients on Instagram. She does some awesome research an all kinds of products. Based on her post I was in need of a great sunscreen for my 2 little guys and have started using Aveeno Baby continuous protection SPF 50 on them and me. It has awesome coverage and does not leave me white. I find that lots of the baby sunscreens have much cleaner ingredients than the adult and are great to use.
That’s so interesting, thank you!!!
I am intrigued; I looked at it and it doesn’t have any of the bad stuff in it! Great find.
I often reach for the babies/kids sunscreens, they are so much cleaner than the adult versions. You are so right! leave to a mom 🙂
Grace, I finally bit the bullet and bought the d-bronzi drops! very excited to try them out.
OH GOOD!!! Enjoy!!
