Augustinus Bader… On Sale!

Augustinus Bader sale

Augustinus Bader… On Sale!

As you know by now Dr. Bader is my most favorite, holy grail best ever face cream.

I make sure to use it at least once a day. That being said, since starting to use it, I can tell you – it rarely goes on sale but when it does, that’s the time to stock up! Violet Grey is having their Memorial Day Weekend sale and you can get 20% off sitewide.

Here are the sale details!

20% off, sitewide at Violet Grey – this week ONLY!

You can read my review of the Dr. Bader here but I want to give you a mini-refresh:

Dr. Bader is a pioneer in stem cell research. He spent over 30 years researching the body’s capability to heal itself. Back in 2007 he developed a technology for burn victims that would help them forgo skin grafts. In fact, The Cream (for combo and oily types) and The Rich Cream (better for dry types – this is the one I use!) are both designed to activate the skin’s renewal process. I use this cream every morning and 3 nights a week (when I’m not using retinol or vitamin C as he wants it to be the first thing you apply – no serum!) and have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin. So it is the BEST!

But I know that some of you may be skeptical;  if you want to try it (or scoop up a travel size), they also offer smaller sizes! You can shop all sizes of Dr. Bader right this way.

And of course, Augustinus Bader isn’t the only thing included in the sale.

A few more picks from me would be the Hanacure Mask (review + video here), all things Tata Harper, that incredible Chantecaille mascara that makes me hate myself, or SK-II (those sheet masks!).

It’s site wide but some exclusions are in place… but the main thing to know is… BADER IS ON SALE!!!!

What skin cleanser do you recommend I’m conjunction with? I self confess to investing on skincare products, but use drugstore cleansers. Which may be fine, but I want to up my game. Appreciate any recs.

    • Hey Betaie!
Right now I am obsessed with the Farmacy Green Clean cleansing balm! It’s divine. They also have a gel cleanser that I love. More on both in this post!!!

That being said, if you are on a budget I think cleanser is probably the one product to skimp on as it isn’t on your face very long. Linda Wells talks about this in today’s episode of the podcast and her logic really makes sense. But to up your game, I looooove Farmacy! Oh and for something even fancier the Barbara Sturm cleansers but they are really expensive.

      Hope that’s helpful!

    Hi Grace!

I’m having a hard time knowing which cream to get. I can’t use skin food more than once a week without breaking out, but I DO have dry skin. I’m thinking of ordering both and then returning one, is that a no no? I’m not sure what their return policy is.

    5.22.19 Reply
    • Hey Marta,
Ooooh I am not really sure! For dry skin I always say The Rich Cream but if skin food makes you break out I’d be nervous to tell you to try it! (It’s not as rich as skin food – it’s more similar to Skin Food Light if you’ve tried that). I will say that I find that using toner before The Rich Cream (and Skin Food too) will help with that – it allows for better product absorption and also clears away any dead cells that may cause breakouts.

Violet Grey does not have the best return policy (see below) – it can’t be opened.

“We accept returns received within 30 days of original purchase unless otherwise noted on the product detail page. Items must be returned unused, undamaged and unopened in their original product packaging. The original shipping charge, if any, is not refundable.”

Thank you SO much for sharing this sale. I had tried The Cream after your glowing review of it and it has done wonders. I feel like my 31 year old face now looks 25. I had been struggling to justify the cost of rebuying after running out last week but this just helped me justify buying 2! Thanks again.

Okay just finished the bottle of 30ml rich cream thanks to my husband also using it and we’ve ordered the 50ml. I wanted to give a bit of feedback on the cream that may help someone or may not 🙂 For reference it’s the first “high end” or “expensive” cream we’ve used, I have dry skin and my husband has normal to oily skin, we are 40 and 38 years old respectively. Before this Fresh and Ole H are probably the most expensive products we’ve used. For us this cream is a game changer. We both loved it! The fact we can both use the same cream is helpful (2-3 pumps each). The changes in my skin were noticed by close friends and people I see infrequently like my hair stylist. I don’t think men in general get comments on their skin but I’ve noticed his skin is much brighter and his laugh lines have been reduced! The texture of our skin has noticeably changed and neither of us broke out. For us it’s worth it but we also realize its a luxury item 🙂 As always thank you for introducing us to “new to us” products!

        • I am so happy to hear this!!!! It’s amazing and love that you and your husband can share it.
I’m also intrigued that it works for his oilier skin; I usually would say that he should use the regular cream as it’s lighter!
Thanks for letting me know, this is helpful!

He says he likes the rich cream because it doesn’t make his skin oiler just more hydrated like maybe it’s over producing oil normally to compensate? Ugh does that even make sense?? 🙂

          • What a thoughtful, scientific response! Hahahaha boys! I love it and am so glad it works for both of you!

I had been researching this product forever and when I saw the violet grey sale, I quickly ordered the AB rich cream. I’ve used it maybe 10 times now and unfortunately there must be something in it that reacts poorly with my skin ( I have rosacea). It’s a barely used bottle and is really expensive. I’m happy to ship it to someone who’d like to try it! Please let me know your email and we can discuss details.

Hi Grace! Do you think there will be a Black Friday sale on Augustinus Bader anywhere this year? Now that it’s winter, I would love to try it! Thanks!

    11.16.19 Reply
    • Ugh I wish I knew!

It’s sold at Net-a-Porter and Neiman which don’t do big sales. Violet Grey, maybe (they do 2x a year big sales which is a good time to buy it!)

It’s actually on sale right now at Barneys (RIP)

      • Amy:

Thanks so much for writing back! I didn’t realize it was sold at Neiman Marcus. Because I’m not great at deleting emails, I see last year they had a Black Friday promotion for $50 off when you spent $200 on beauty, so maybe they’ll do the same thing this year. Though 15% is pretty good at Barneys! If you share a link on your blog or insta, I’ll click through so you get credit (because you definitely deserve it!).

If folks miss out on this sale, they should try SAKS. I was able to save some money by using a 10% off code (as well as a code for free shipping). I can’t remember if that was a new customer code or if it was some sort of sale, but that’s something to look out for.
I echo everyone’s sentiments – it is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. Thanks for introducing it to us!

Any thoughts on whether this is worth the splurge in your (late) 20s? I’m starting to notice fine lines on my forehead but don’t know if I should try to hold off a few more years before devoting my extra dollars to serious skin care!

I kind of want to point out to you (and the readers) that the largest size isn’t the most bang for your buck..
The largest size is $.88/ml vs the smaller two are both $.764/ml. So you’re actually better off getting two medium sizes instead of one of the larger ones.

…. also you influenced me. I ordered the 15ml to try it. Can’t wait to see if it works for me!

  19. Cait:

    Sorry I think I misspoke:

    30 and 15ml are: ..174/ml
    50 ml is: .195

This is without the sale of course.

      $265 for 50mL —> $5.30/mL
      $170 for 30 mL —> $5.66/mL
      $85 for 15 mL —> $5.66/mL

I did a double take with your calculations…I think you accidentally calculated by dividing the mL by the dollar! I wish they were <20 cents/mL 🙂

Thanks for the info Grace, I just might order the Dr. Bader and that mascara….

HI Grace! Have you tried the Dr. Bader PRimer (made in collab with Victoria Beckham)? Wondering if it is worth the $$

    11.26.19 Reply
    • Hi! I have (only for a few days) and I like it so far but I cannot recommend a $400+ skincare routine. If you have the money, it’s great but you have to actually use it OVER the Bader cream or rich cream, so it’s just a very expensive routine!

      11.27.19 Reply
      • CD:

Thanks for the honest response Grace! That is a mighty fortune I think for a skincare routine. Though I will splurge for more of the rich cream I think with this sale since it’s something I found I didn’t need every night. I tried it once based on your recommendation last year and was really happy.

I would love to try the rich cream at some point but I can really only afford the 15mL. (I guess I’d be in trouble if I loved it!). In your opinion would you actually see results in the time it would take to go through this size bottle? And how long would you estimate this smallest size would last? Thanks in advance!

    5.22.20 Reply
    • Honestly, probably not? I LOVE this cream and while it does make an immediate difference in hydration and overall glowiness, you need to be consistent in order to see long term results. The big bottle usually lasts me about 3 months – I can’t speak to the 15ml!
