Augustinus Bader… On Sale!

Augustinus Bader... On Sale!

I had a different post planned for today but then a very sweet reader DM’d me to tell me about the Violet Grey sale. Love when you guys do my job for me. The sale (drumroll please…) includes my most favorite, beloved moisturizer – Augustinus Bader. This cream (as you probably know by now if you’re a regular reader!) is my absolute favorite holy grail skincare product. I make sure to use it at least once a day. That being said, since starting to use it, I’ve NEVER seen it on sale so this is big!

Here are the sale details!

$15 OFF $100
$50 OFF $250
$100 OFF $500
$250 OFF $1,000+

(no code necessary.)

You can read my review of the Dr. Bader here but I want to give you a mini-refresh:

Dr. Bader is a pioneer in stem cell research. He spent over 30 years researching the body’s capability to heal itself. Back in 2007 he developed a technology for burn victims that would help them forgo skin grafts. The Cream (for combo and oily types) and The Rich Cream (better for dry types – this is the one I use!) are both designed to activate the skin’s renewal process. I use this cream every morning and 3 nights a week (when I’m not using retinol or vitamin C as he wants it to be the first thing you apply – no serum!) and have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin. It is the BEST.

And don’t just take my word for it – if you listen to today’s episode of Bad on Paper (my podcast), we interview Linda Wells (the founding editor of Allure Magazine) and she listed it as here number one holy grail skincare item, too!

I know that some of you may be skeptical;  if you want to try it (or scoop up a travel size), they also offer smaller sizes! You can shop all sizes of Dr. Bader right this way.

And of course this isn’t the only thing included in the sale.

A few more picks from me would be the Hanacure Mask (review + video here), all things Tata Harper, that incredible Chantecaille mascara that makes me hate myself, or SK-II (those sheet masks!).

It’s site wide but some exclusions are in place (I was adding to cart and noticed that both Vintner’s Daughter and Charlotte Tilbury are sadly not a part of the sale… womp!)

Also this feels SO unprofessional but I have no idea when the sale ends! It’s not listed anywhere on the Violet Grey website (!?!?!), even in the blog post about the sale!!! If you happen to know, let me know and I’ll update this post.

What skin cleanser do you recommend I’m conjunction with? I self confess to investing on skincare products, but use drugstore cleansers. Which may be fine, but I want to up my game. Appreciate any recs.

      Hey Betaie!
Right now I am obsessed with the Farmacy Green Clean cleansing balm! It’s divine. They also have a gel cleanser that I love. More on both in this post!!!

That being said, if you are on a budget I think cleanser is probably the one product to skimp on as it isn’t on your face very long. Linda Wells talks about this in today’s episode of the podcast and her logic really makes sense. But to up your game, I looooove Farmacy! Oh and for something even fancier the Barbara Sturm cleansers but they are really expensive.

      Hope that’s helpful!

    Hi Grace!

I’m having a hard time knowing which cream to get. I can’t use skin food more than once a week without breaking out, but I DO have dry skin. I’m thinking of ordering both and then returning one, is that a no no? I’m not sure what their return policy is.

    • grace at the stripe says 5.22.19

      Hey Marta,
Ooooh I am not really sure! For dry skin I always say The Rich Cream but if skin food makes you break out I’d be nervous to tell you to try it! (It’s not as rich as skin food – it’s more similar to Skin Food Light if you’ve tried that). I will say that I find that using toner before The Rich Cream (and Skin Food too) will help with that – it allows for better product absorption and also clears away any dead cells that may cause breakouts.

Violet Grey does not have the best return policy (see below) – it can’t be opened.

“We accept returns received within 30 days of original purchase unless otherwise noted on the product detail page. Items must be returned unused, undamaged and unopened in their original product packaging. The original shipping charge, if any, is not refundable.”

Welp $15 off was enough to get me to final pull the trigger can’t wait to try!

  5. McKenzie says 5.22.19

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been wanting to try Bader since you first posted about it but have talked myself out of it every time. But today’s the day with $50 off! So excited to add this to my skincare routine!

  6. Cara says 5.22.19

Thank you SO much for sharing this sale. I had tried The Cream after your glowing review of it and it has done wonders. I feel like my 31 year old face now looks 25. I had been struggling to justify the cost of rebuying after running out last week but this just helped me justify buying 2! Thanks again.

I swear it makes you age backwards (but legally definitely can’t make that claim!!!!) So happy you love it as much as I do!

  7. Breana says 5.22.19

    Hey Grace,
I wasn’t able to find this anywhere – how often do you go through an entire 50mL bottle?

  8. Erica says 5.22.19

Yay! I hope you picked up some refills. Thanks so much for letting me know about this miracle cream in the first place!

  9. Katie says 5.22.19

Ordered! Been wanting to try this and thought I’d treat myself to something nice. Thank you Grace!

  10. Shana says 5.23.19

Perfect timing – purchased! I’m excited to finally try it out!! I’m also a complete data nerd so I’m wondering if it will be a May best seller for you hahahaha 🙂

    • grace at the stripe says 5.23.19

LOLing at this because SAME and there is a data delay right now so I can’t tell how it’s selling but so many people said they bought it so it will be interesting!

Okay just finished the bottle of 30ml rich cream thanks to my husband also using it and we’ve ordered the 50ml. I wanted to give a bit of feedback on the cream that may help someone or may not 🙂 For reference it’s the first “high end” or “expensive” cream we’ve used, I have dry skin and my husband has normal to oily skin, we are 40 and 38 years old respectively. Before this Fresh and Ole H are probably the most expensive products we’ve used. For us this cream is a game changer. We both loved it! The fact we can both use the same cream is helpful (2-3 pumps each). The changes in my skin were noticed by close friends and people I see infrequently like my hair stylist. I don’t think men in general get comments on their skin but I’ve noticed his skin is much brighter and his laugh lines have been reduced! The texture of our skin has noticeably changed and neither of us broke out. For us it’s worth it but we also realize its a luxury item 🙂 As always thank you for introducing us to “new to us” products!

I am so happy to hear this!!!! It’s amazing and love that you and your husband can share it.
I’m also intrigued that it works for his oilier skin; I usually would say that he should use the regular cream as it’s lighter!
Thanks for letting me know, this is helpful!

          • Shana says 7.14.19

He says he likes the rich cream because it doesn’t make his skin oiler just more hydrated like maybe it’s over producing oil normally to compensate? Ugh does that even make sense?? 🙂

          • grace at the stripe says 7.15.19

What a thoughtful, scientific response! Hahahaha boys! I love it and am so glad it works for both of you!

  11. Lisa Autumn says 5.24.19

Ahhh perfect timing! thank you so much 🙂

Definitely trying Dr. Bader. I can’t wait! My night cream just ran out.

  13. Julie B. says 7.13.19

I had been researching this product forever and when I saw the violet grey sale, I quickly ordered the AB rich cream. I’ve used it maybe 10 times now and unfortunately there must be something in it that reacts poorly with my skin ( I have rosacea). It’s a barely used bottle and is really expensive. I’m happy to ship it to someone who’d like to try it! Please let me know your email and we can discuss details.
