Happy Monday!
I kinda really love doing these outfit diaries. I think it’s more realistic… Honestly, I love a good professional photo as much as the next person but I also like sharing what I actually wear during my day to day. It also lets you see that I do actually keep and rewear so many of my things. I feel like blogging promotes this lifestyle/mindset where EVERYTHING HAS TO BE NEW and that’s just not the case. I hope this series inspires you to rewear some of your old favorites.
Whereas last week was a fancier one (so many events, so many dresses) this week was much more casual. I was pretty exhausted from our trip to DC and spent most of the week at my desk working on projects and all the boring admin parts of blogging. So Monday and Friday were not documented but picture me in a ratty tee and leggings and Tuesday maybe shouldn’t have been documented (I look TIRED but whatever we keep things real here).
PS – off topic, but one of my FAVORITE jewelry companies is having a sale! It’s today (starting at 6am CST) and tomorrow ONLY. They never do this except Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
What I Actually Wore: 6/8 – 6/14
Saturday Day
the occasion: wandering around DC // a bit of site-seeing!
what I wore: Marrakech Tee (literally bought on the side walk during my trip to Morocco) // Rag & Bone Shorts // Gold Birkenstocks // Gucci Purse (I know it’s bougie but this is my ideal travel purse; it’s the perfect size to hold everything but still nice and small and hands free!)
Saturday Night
the occasion: dinner at The Dabney in DC (one of the best meals I’ve had in a while) with Meg.
what I wore: Chelsea 28 Dress (old, bought during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last year – similar options here, here + here; obsessed with this plus size dress and also this cute one which is also available in plus) // Loeffler Randall Heels
Sunday
the occasion: Travel Day! Heading back to New York from DC on the train.
what I wore: IRO Fake News Tee // Universal Standard Side Stripe Jeans // J.Crew Belt (super old) // Gold Birkenstocks
Tuesday
the occasion: working from home and errands in Brooklyn. (Also I swear these pants are actually cute in person; they photograph terribly without popping a leg.)
what I wore: T by Alexander Wang striped shirt (very old – similar) // Madewell Pants (on sale!) // Gold Birkenstocks
Wednesday
the occasion: stopping by the Drunk Elephant pop-up in Soho and having dinner in the city at Wayan (so yummy, get the lobster noodles!) with Becca, Casey, Ashley, and Rayna.
what I wore: Madewell Dress (from the holidays – seen in this blog post – similar here + here) // Loeffler Randall Heels // gifted Dunkin Donuts Purse (sorry, I know you guys desperately want it but I don’t think they sell them 😉 )
Thursday
the occasion: meetings for the podcast in the city.
what I wore: Veronica Beard Jacket (last seen here and before that, here) // Atlantic-Pacific x Halogen Camisole (old but this is very similar) // Re/Done Jeans (my FAVORITE boyfriend jeans but if you read here regularly you’ve seen ’em 1,000,000 times!) // Loeffler Randall Heels // Lele Sadoughi Headband (LOVE the leopard version!)
I’m glad you like doing these posts, Grace! I really enjoy them, much more than the posed photoshoots! Love your outfits! ✨

Thanks Charmaine!!
I have the Madewell Emmetts and I agree they are so much cuter in person. The cinnamon color is perfect! I get so many compliments on them and they are a casual Friday staple for me 🙂 Loving these posts and the Veronica Beard jacket is so so good!
Right? They are SO cute in person but seriously awful in photos!
Long time reader/big fan of the blog. But puzzled why you would promote a tee that says Fake News! The current assault on the freedom of the press isn’t funny or cute. The Amazon link says “Trump all the way” :-/
hey A! I think that’s just my sarcasm/sense of humor, which we may not be aligned on. I have a few journalist friends and they approved!
But YIKES whoa I just saw that on the Amazon page – removed that link immediately.
I had a similar reaction – the term has been so effectively weaponized against journalists that it’s hard for me to have a sense of humor about it anymore (and I love a cheeky tee). I’m no longer in the biz but know it’s had a real impact on my friends who are still in the newsroom trenches. Thanks for considering our comments – you do so many wonderful things on the blog, so this just struck me as off brand. And thanks for taking down that link (although FYI still shows up for me as a thumbnail on the bottom).
I hear you! I’m not going to apologize for my sense of humor, I really like this t-shirt but can totally see/understand that it’s not for everyone!
And sheesh thanks just edited the widget!!!!
I absolutely adore that you do this ‘diary’. I actually find it way more inspiring than almost any other fashion post, and that’s web-wide, not just on your site. I think it’s also a testament to your authenticity – all your ‘what I actually wore’ outfits are reflective of your professional ones too.
I am sooo happy to hear that. Thanks so much for the kind words!
Love the striped jean
thank you!
Yes! I am loving the new outfit diaries. It gives me ideas of different ways to put things I already have together, and to up my game a little bit (since you are way better at outfits than me :))
aw good I am so happy to hear that!
Love these casual outfit posts!! So much more relatable! I really like that yellow t-shirt!

i’m so glad to hear that!
Love all of these, but that Thursday outfit is summer perfection!
thank you!
Love this series!
I am so glad!!!
Heads up re: your red Gucci crossbody – I randomly found one at Express that’s almost exactly the same size, and also red – I use it for my airplane purse too! Could be a great dupe for those looking for something more budget-friendly. It looks like the exact style is sold out, but worth a mention since I rarely think about shopping for accessories there.
Oh that’s great to know; thank you!
Love this series (and your blog as a whole)! Just a random questions- why do you take all the mirror pictures on a slant? Haha I really enjoy seeing what you wore all week but I find myself getting a crink in my neck from turning it to see the pictures straight on!
Oh I love the blazer from the last outfit!

I really enjoy this feature. Just tripped over a few things in this post (including the fake news tee, but you already responded to that one further down I saw).
It says a lot about our consumerist culture when you say an item is old and then go on to specify you bought it on sale last year. If that’s old…Wow, we are truly heading fast towards doomsday. We need to get back to seeing the value of our stuff again completely disconnected from the time we bought that item IMHO.
I hear your introductory words though, Grace, and I see that you are trying to move to a more conscious take on fashion and reuse of items in your closet. Just had to share that thought.
Thanks for the feedback Abby. I wouldn’t read too much into it; I just mean that it’s not currently available. There’s a lot of pressure on bloggers to share things that are current season / still in stores… sometimes I feel like a walking catalog bc people get annoyed that it’s not still available. In that case, I say that it’s old and suggest an alternative.
I hear you on consumerist culture which is why I always try to share “old” pieces, rewear current favorites, and only buy something if I truly need it/desperately want it and see it having longevity in my closet.
Oh yeah, I cannot even imagine how high that pressure to provide “new” content must be for you as a blogger! Totally understand your need to label things as not available any longer now! Thanks for pointing that out.
I hope you see how much your followers devour your personal pieces and not just the “what I bought last week” features. I love reading your thoughts mostly!
