I figured I’d open today’s post with a photo of my handsome child because hey why not? He looks so angry here! His Monday face, I suppose?
How was your weekend? Mine was really really nice. I hadn’t seen my niece in two weeks so it was fun to hang out with her on Saturday and then I went over Becca’s for the most delicious dinner (Becca is an excellent cook!)… she made us short ribs and bacon-y brussels sprouts and gorgonzola mashed potatoes for Rachael’s birthday. YUM.
Yesterday I was so lazy and it was wonderful. I worked out and went for a walk but the best part of the day was deciding to take a mid-day bath and then curling up in my chair with You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria. This book is so cute, it’s our Bad on Paper book club pick and such a fun light read. If you haven’t already read it I highly recommend! I’m only about a third of a way through but am loving it so far.

Big Macs & Burgundy: Wine Pairings for the Real World
Calling it now: this book is going to be in every single gift guide this holiday season, mine included! Such a clever idea: realistic wine pairings for everything from KFC to General Tso’s Chicken. Because we are all staying home a lot more than usual (and probably ordering a lot more takeout), so we might as well know what to drink with those things! Cheetos and Sancerre, anyone? I’m constantly trying to learn more about wine and this book (based on the Grub Street column) is such a fun, relatable, realistic take on wine pairings. (image source!)
Peter Williams’ George Floyd Triptych
I came across Peter Williams during a routine browsing of Artsy (a lot of you ask how I find new artists to feature / follow / obsess over… ARTSY: I love it because as you follow new artists, it then recommends new artists you might like and you can also purchase art from galleries and auctions though most is out of my price range) and was really moved by his George Floyd triptych. The first painting depicts his arrest; the second depicts his murder, the third depicts his burial. Really powerful and heartbreaking. You can learn more about Peter Williams here, on his website.
Brown Butter Beauty
Gift guide season is coming soon and I have been in the throes of planning mine. I spent some time researching more small Black-owned businesses (I have a few good lists on my blog already here + here if you want to peruse) and came across Brown Butter Beauty. I ordered this rose & neroli body polish… it sounds divine! Will report back of course.

Thanks Charmaine!
I finally finally bought some Equilibria softgels — to give my mom for Christmas! She would never in a million years buy something like this for herself but she’s also probably never had a full night’s sleep in her life, so, I’m excited for her to try it 🙂 so thank you for the special code and an opinion I so genuinely trust! ❤️
OH GOOD! Let me know how she likes them!!!!!
That wine pairing book is SO smart. Love that for a gift (and can’t believe we’re already thinking about this, ah!)

I KNOW IT IS SO WILD!
I’d been going back and forth on the Equilibria CBD, and I finally bit the bullet with the 25% off. I actually compared prices to stores here (I live in Mass and we have recreational pot shops, and they sell product with THC and with CBD only) and the subscription boxes are a really good deal!
Oh good! Please keep me posted on how you like it!!!!
