We are back with another fun styling post. This time, we are taking our favorite summer layers from this post and showing you how to style them. A nice transition as it’s still very very warm down here in Charleston, but it is nice to mix in some layering pieces for texture.
As always, this isn’t about buying all new outfits but styling pieces from your closet! I hope this inspires you to maybe wear a swimsuit as a bodysuit (drape an open weave sweater over your shoulders), pair your stripes with a longer short, etc. In my case, I’m styling look 3 above. I had the doen x gap dress but not the birks so I did a dad sandal. Fun sunglasses and my go-to canvas tote (and a very old Brunello Cucinelli sweater from The RealReal over my shoulders and we are good to go!

How To Style Summer layers
Look 1
I love this look for the beach or pool. I know, I know – we are shopping for fall but it’s so hot down here that I couldn’t resist adding a swimsuit. This one is a gem and pretty enough to work as a bodysuit. These denim shorts are my absolute favorites (yes, even beating out my AGOLDE pairs) thanks to just enough stretch. You can’t tell it’s there but it makes the jeans hug your butt + they’re really comfy. I love the Normandy wash!
PS – these sandals are currently in my cart. I love them!

My Jenni Kayne fisherman sweater is still one of my absolute favorite purchases. I have it in both cotton and cashmere (bought it two or three years ago) and live in it, year round! I like the idea of tossing it over my shoulders (or putting it on and having just a peek of stripes showing). A longer short is on my list for fall and this pair is a top contender. To keep things from going too preppy, we’re wearing mesh flats!

Look 3
This look was my favorite (and mostly pieces I had in my own closet). My version is above! A feminine sundress, a lightweight beach sweater tied at the shoulders, dad sandals. Since it’s a mostly neutral look I opted for a bright pair of sunglasses but something more neutral would work just as well. Can’t say enough great things about this canvas bag, it is truly magnificent and looks twice the price! I get stopped on the street and asked about it.

Look 4
Last but not least is another super easy one. A monochromatic base (tank, jeans) with navy + white stripes thrown over the shoulders… polished accessories! Gold flats, a simple handbag with great hardware, the sweetest shell clip. I have raved and raved about this La Ligne sweater. The cut is perfect: an open neck, super long sleeves, a slouchy body. My code GRACE10 still works!
