How To Wear Summer’s Best Tops.

How To Wear Summer's Best Tops

Back in June, we published our list of summer’s best tops. Today? Some thoughts on how to style them! As an added bonus, a lot of these pieces are on sale. I hope this post inspires you a little bit. The point isn’t to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe but to maybe shop for some holes and then use them to breathe new life into pieces you already own.

For example above, I’m wearing the COS chambray wrap top with a pair of Toteme shorts I had completely forgotten about. I don’t own black fisherman sandals but my white ones swap in perfectly. Or for look three, why not experiment with styling your more feminine tops with black shorts and accessories? It’s a simple swap (that most likely won’t require shopping) that makes a big difference. I could on but that’s what I want you to take away for that. Mixing and matching, maybe a little shopping but… mostly? Wearing the things you already have in new ways (and as always) the most important part: having fun getting dressed.

This & Other Stories blouse is such a stand out. Carly and I both love the texture. It feels like something expensive and designer but it’s actually really well priced at just under $200. I personally fall into the trap of pairing cut-offs with everything but I like the idea of going all neutral (these Madewell jeans are one of my personal favorites, the fit is so great!). Carly found these t-strap raffia flats and they’re just so cute. And then I loved the idea of layering in these shell earrings which just went on sale. I think the texture plays really really well with the blouse. And of course, the Sezane tote. I love this bag so much.

This chambray wrap top is something Carly influenced me on. She is a big COS shopper and she’s influenced both me and our videographer Faith to shop there more. I love that their pieces are on trend but still classic. The quality is great (I find the cuts to be impeccable and the fabrics to be really beautiful) and the prices are always reasonable. COS is nothing new but I’ve been looking there a lot more lately.

The top sold out very quickly at COS but is still available at Nordstrom – limited sizes though! I wear the 6. Since it is a wrap I think you could easily size up or down based on what is in stock. I reinterpreted this look above with my white Emme Parsons fisherman sandals and a darker pair of darker shorts (super old from Toteme) and really love the look. Also! This Demellier bag is fantastic. I get questions about it wherever I go. When I was in LA it was the only bag I carried and it nearly broke my DMs. It’s not inexpensive ($545) but it’s not outrageous either. For high quality, under $1000 bags I have been loving this brand!

Next up we are styling this cute little SEA top. For this, my hunch would have been white cutoffs + neutral accessories… playing into the lighter tones of the blouse. I like that Carly wanted to go a little darker. Black cutoffs, these fantastic J.Crew slides (I have them in red and they are the best) and a bag that is summery but still keeps to that darker palette. And you know this already but I am loving Tinx’s lip balm with U Beauty. It’s become one of my most worn shades. Rosy with just a bit of sparkle! (GRACEATWOOD gets you 20% off!)

red halter top and fun pants

Look 4

It is probably no surprise that this look is my favorite. I (Grace) would actually have probably styled the red halter top with something more subdued. Navy High Sports, white Bermuda shorts? Carly suggested pairing it with something equally bold (these fun pants from Alemais) which is just too fun. The matching slides and cute raffia fish clutch really just push things over the top in the best way. This is my ideal summer party outfit.

The halter top is now on major sale, BTW. I like this sticky bra under tops like this.
