A Review of goop’s New Mascara

Goop Featherlash Lifting Serum Mascara Review

There has been a LOT of buzz about goop’s new mascara. So much so that I placed an order the day it came out (June 21st). It arrived on June 27th, and for the past few weeks, I have made this mascara my go-to. I don’t wear mascara every day, but I do most days. Overall, I really like it!

I will caveat that my lashes have not been looking great as I’ve been lazy about using my usual lash serum. I snapped a before and after photo and am a little self-conscious. I’m hardly an eyelash model! That being said, maybe you have short stumpy lashes right now too. In that case, I hope the photos make you feel a little bit better.

PS – really good news — the mascara is now available at Nordstrom. Faster and free shipping. I bought mine directly from goop and was a little annoyed by the $7 shipping!

Overall, I like this mascara a lot. It is great for everyday. It gives you longer, glossy, pretty lashes. And it reminds me a lot of Glossier Lash Slick. I don’t really see the feathery/volumizing benefits quite as much though (for that, I’d recommend Westman Atelier which is probably my number one; though I would note that it is $17 more expensive so do with that information what you’d like). What I do notice in a big way is the lifting benefits. You can skip a lash curler.

What I love most is a) the wear (it does not budge during the day – over the past few weeks, even in the humidity, I’ve had zero flakes or smudges) but b) that it comes off SO easily when you want to take it off. I mean it when I say this: I have never tried a mascara that stays on this well AND simultaneously just rinses clean with a little gentle face wash. So, if you have sensitive skin (or just hate rubbing off your mascara at the end of the day), this will be your new favorite mascara. I also like that it is clean. Whether or not you are on the “clean beauty” train (I’m about 70/30 myself), I think we can all agree that we don’t want chemicals so close to our eyes!

It hasn’t been long enough (just a few weeks) so I cannot speak to the treatment benefits (that sort of thing comes with longer use!) but given the current state of my lashes, I like that it has conditioning benefits – I need all the help I can get! I would say that this is probably my second favorite mascara to use right now. I try a LOT of mascaras, it might not sound like it, but this is high praise!

Below, a before and after comparison. As always, I did not edit these photos (I typically adjust the light) as I want to show you a true perfect comparison. This is with two coats!

before & After Comparison

Before using mascara

This is the before (I did all of my other makeup and snapped this photo just before applying the mascara).

After using the goop serum mascara

And this is the after! (Two coats!)
