I absolutely love red. I’ve never had my colors done, but I know that it flatters my skin tone. It’s one of those colors I always feel my best in, alongside turquoise, emerald green, and cobalt. A power color! When I spotted this dress, I gasped. The three-dimensional flower applique is just so special and unique! I have quite a few special events this fall and plan to wear this to at least one of them. It is a magical dress, that’s for sure.
This was a solid month of reading. It started with GWYNETH, which was a salacious gem of an (unauthorized!) biography but took a bit longer to read. After that, I just decided to make it the month of reading thrillers (I read six, and read them all very quickly. Any month that has a new release from Liv Constantine and Sarah Pekkanen is a good month indeed. I loved both of their new books. I also really enjoyed Stacy Willingham’s latest. Ahhhh, I love making these little wish lists, especially around the change of seasons! There are so many beautiful pieces in stores that I love right now, I want to shop, shop, shop . . . but I’m making a list instead. We will start with this pony hair Khaite bag. It’s the perfect shade of fiery red-orange. I know we’re not supposed to match our bags and our shoes, but wouldn’t it be beautiful with these exquisite lace flats? Love.
Right now, my shopping focus is on pieces I can wear now (comfortable in this crazy Charleston heat) and later (when it finally cools down and I can layer a bit). This creamy Merlette dress is perfection. It’s like an elevated take on the t-shirt dress. The smocking at the waist is both flattering and comfortable. This $99 dress from & Other Stories is very, very similar. With either, the dress will look great with sandals now or layered over boots when it cools down.
