What’s on My Wish List

It’s time to share this month’s little wish list, and there are so many things I’m loving. A girlfriend sent me the Renglii drop on Moda, and I just about died, drooling all of the gorgeous (acid-drenched!) colors. I wound up ordering a few pieces, including this jacket and this silk georgette button-down. Morgan Stewart really nailed it with this collection: timeless silhouettes and cuts in a color palette that feels very fresh and exciting.

In addition to color, I’m craving interesting textures right now. I love all of Reformation’s lace-trimmed pieces (camisole tank, mini skirt). I think they’d look beautiful layered

A Chic Under $200 Edit

Happy Monday! We are back with a big juicy round-up of under $200 finds. I am a broken record, but great style does not have to mean spending loads of money, which is why it’s so important to me to highlight shopping finds in a range of price points. I cannot get over some of the pieces featured here today. (This 100% suede chore jacket, are you kidding me?!)

As you probably know by now, I have a “great style under $200” section on my ShopMy page that I update multiple times a week, if not every day. Both Carly and I spend a lot of time tracking down pieces at this price point that still feel cool and special.

The Best Lady Jackets

Oh man, do I love a lady jacket. I’ve always loved a fancy little jacket, but as I get older, I find that wearing it with jeans feels the most me. Also, now, staunchly in my mid-forties, they look a little less ironic and “cool” than they did in my twenties and thirties. So pairing a more conservative-looking jacket with denim and an interesting accessory helps keep the look fresh and fun vs. matriarchal or stuffy. In the look above, it’s the red tassel clutch. For the second look, it’s sheer socks and an interesting shoe.

Today I am styling two of my favorites. This perfect taffetta jacket from Donni, and this chic zip-up number from Aligne.

My Wardrobe Heroes

There are certain pieces in my closet that I wear more than anything else. The ones I reach for when I have “nothing to wear,” the pieces that always feel good. These are my wardrobe heroes. Fabrics that always look and feel their best, cuts that I know will fit nicely no matter what, shoes that are just as comfortable as they are cute. There is the silk blouse I am wearing in the photo above (I’m a little worried as it’s only available in one place and not on the brand’s website, signalling it might be getting phased out). The new version is cotton poplin, but what makes this one special is the whisper-thin (but not sheer!) washed silk habotai fabric. But also: the best chambray shirt (what makes this one great is its long, lean fit and soft, lightweight fabric) and my forever favorite Sézane button-down.
