Some More Snake Bead DIY-spiration… from DANNIJO

While perusing the new arrivals section at DANNIJO today, I stumbled upon a few more pieces that incorporate snake beads. (Thank you to Erin at Thanks I Made It) for cluing me into what those lovely chevron shaped beads are when I wrote about the Isabel Marant bracelet here.) I love these bracelets. DANNIJO sells them for $80, which isn’t expensive for a DANNIJO piece, but you could easily make them for $10 – $15. (The problem is that you really want to pile on 2-3 of these, so you’d end up spending $240… no way!) I also adore this necklace. It’s actually not one necklace, but six strands, layered together. Awesome, but DANNIJO sells ’em for $170 a pop.

DIY Love…

My (amazingly talented) friend Jenni has a section on her blog where she highlights the DIY projects that she’s found to be fabulous. Since I’ve been a little bit busy, I thought I’d steal a page out of her book. These are two projects that I’m dying to try myself. First there is StyleCaster’s “Hardcore DIY.” This necklace is just out of this world. Buying safety pins and seed beads immediately to recreate on my own.

An Evening with LensCrafters… and Joan Rivers!

Every now and again, something truly cool will happen, where I am reminded how lucky I am to live in New York. This time around, it was LensCrafters’ event at the Glass Houses in Chelsea. The premise of the event was to promote (stylish) prescription sunglasses. Basically, most of us need some sort of glasses, but very few of us actually wear prescription sunnies. When you think about it, how silly. The thing I did not know is that LensCrafters’ actually carries an extensive range of pretty amazing designer shades. From classic Ray-Bans to trendy Tory Burch or elegant Tiffany sunglasses, there is something for everyone.
