It is cold out (even here in Charleston!) and we are bundling up. Funny how your blood thins out… days that once felt like a warm treat now feel ice cold. When it drops below fifty, I reach for my biggest coat and warmest socks. Today, we are talking shoes. Here are the shoes that Carly and I are loving most right now.
Our Winter Shoe Edit
Grace:
My high heels are getting dusty. I miss them but lately, it’s been pretty flats (or cozy birks) all the way. I splurged on these Alaia crystal ballet flats over the break and am shocking myself by how much I wear them. With everything. Leggings, denim, dresses, etc. They make a fun pairing with colorful socks, they add an element of interest to everything I wear them with. I could not love them more!
On the more practical front, these Madewell boots were a great buy. They are just high enough to wear with skirts and dresses (and a black tight) or to kick around in with jeans or leggings. Lastly? The Boden loafers! Are you tired of me talking about them? Because I adore them. They are the most comfortable, cutest loafer. I have the red ones too. They run true to size but if you are between, order up. I’m a consistent US 8.5/EU 39 and the 9 fits me perfectly.
Carly:
I fear that my long days of being a “strictly sneaker” gal are over. As I get older, I notice myself browsing for shoes that are comfortable, but oddly feminine for my taste…and I love it! My go-to-shoe right now are ballet flats—these Le Monde Beryl mesh flats are exactly what every closet needs. Mesh flats are making a resurgence, and I swear I’ve seen them everywhere while digging through Pinterest for outfit inspiration.
On the more casual end, my boyfriend got me these Birkenstock clogs for my birthday and I promise they are the perfect house shoe. Since Grace and I work from home, I am a full believer in splurging for pieces that are cozy, but still make you feel like you’re getting dressed for the day (even if nobody else sees you). Last but definitely not least, Souliers Martinez flats. These were a Grace find and can I just say…I’ve never added something to my cart faster. They’re so sleek, sexy, and structured. Chef’s kiss!

What about a nice, not too expensive, pair of riding boots?
The shearling mules are so fluffy and wonderful, but I’m totally stumped on how to wear them. Are they an outside the house shoe? A fun inside shoe?
For outside! I would just pair with a thin sock, straight leg jeans, and a classic tee or a sweater!
Oh my goodness, I want them all!
