What I Actually Wore: 8.10 - 8.16

Happy Monday! This was such a nice weekend – it was really good to be home. I always say that my perfect, most ideal weekend is one very fun day and one very productive day and that’s exactly how this past weekend was for me. On Saturday I went to Dumbo House with one of my best friends and had a leisurely brunch that lasted til 8pm (hahaha) and came home and read. Then yesterday was spent doing a mix of errands + chores, shooting two upcoming campaigns with Carter, work catchup, and of course some more reading.

This past week was the week after a week away so it was a pretty intense week work-wise. That means this outfit diary is a lot of me in cutoffs and sweatshirts/graphic tees and no shoes working from home but I did manage to dress nicely a few times. So pardon the casualness but that’s just life! This coming week is going to be a little more relaxed! Also: everyone go get these pearl hoops (pictured above); they’re amazing!

As someone who can wear shorts/sweats/yoga pants to the office, I love that you include your work from home outfits. They are the only workwear-style outfits that inspire me!

Loving the book tee and your Ulla Johnson bag!

Based on the recent surge of cheap amazon fashion, I was wondering if you had read anything about the environmental/social impact of amazon? I caved and bought a bunch of ridiculously cheap bikinis, sunglasses, and dresses on amazon this summer, so I am totally guilty of buying into cheap, fast fashion without questioning how it’s so inexpensive, but I was wondering if you had read anything or had any thoughts about the labor practices and materials. I have searched a little, but except for articles about sellers posting fake images of items, I can’t find anything about labor and impact.
Obviously, with the fabrics being used and how much is plastic, I know it’s not “good” for the environment, but I’d be very interesting in reading a post about it. I know you’ve talked about sustainability and small changes to be greener in the past, so I thought you might be open to talking about this! Thanks! Love your posts 🙂

Hey Katie! That’s a great question. Honestly I know it isn’t great, and I’ve def read up on it. At the end of the day I just try to be mindful of everything I buy and only buy things I really like and plan on holding onto for a long time.
That’s my take on a greener wardrobe: don’t overconsume and buy stuff that isn’t going to end up getting given away or in a landfill.
Sorry that’s probably not the response you’re looking for! XO grace
