Weekend Reading 4.2.22

Happy weekend! I have a low key one ahead. Brunch with Chassity today, dinner with my family tonight, and (hopefully depending on her mood/nap schedule) a play date with my niece tomorrow. Something fun from this week: Victoria and I finalized all the fonts, new brand colors, new logo, the home page layout… all of it this week and that feels really good. The new site and branding won’t launch until early summer (and YES the new books page will be searchable) but I am so beyond excited about it, it looks really really good and just feels very very me. Have a wonderful weekend, and jusssst in case you missed them yesterday you can shop my Sephora sale picks right this way.

Weekend Reading, 4.2.22

Books by trans and non-binary authors.

The perfect everyday day dress.

Cup of Jo’s post about the Chris Rock/Will Smith conversation really resonated with me. Sometimes it is best to just be quiet and listen.

But also: why are people acting so weird right now?!

Very very into this matching shorts + shirt set, perfect for the beach!

The twelve best books of April. The Everygirl had a great book list as well!

I don’t need yet another white blouse but I love the eyelet/lace details on this one.

Everything we know about the second season of Only Murders.

The art of friendship: how to survive change.

Um, how fun are these flamingo earrings!?

Danielle wrote a great post about how to start and grow a blog.

This little dress is so breezy and cute. Love all the different colors.

The best nineties movies!

I really enjoyed this episode of Merritt’s podcast.

Such an honest look at both the good and the bad parts of being an influencer!

A very good Amazon dress (I got the dark blue). This one too (I got the blue).

How to get out of a dating funk.

How the pandemic has made this author (and so many of us) lose our ambition.

Fun, easy lunch ideas.

Anthropologie made one of my favorite dresses in linen. I am probably going to need the white one?

I am really looking forward to the Game of Thrones prequel!

What a stunning midi dress (at a great price).

I loved this colorful California home tour!

The best cookbooks for Spring. Also, sheet pan recipes!

Love these puffy (but not too puffy!) slides, currently on sale.

We need more bookstore cafes.

Oh I LOVE this maxi dress. I say this every week but Anthropologie is doing such a good job.

The best primers for dry skin.

The most beautiful places in every state.

The perfect oversized white shirt at a great price.

Wow, I knew Jenni Kayne’s home would be stunning but this California ranch is just… so serene.

Just a really pretty easy, short kaftan.

How to be more confident.

Thinking of taking a trip? These are the best places to travel in May!

  1. Thank you for sharing the Cup of Jo post on the Chris Rock/Will Smith situation. I kept getting this uneasy feeling every time I tried to have an opinion on the situation, and that post crystallizes why. I’m glad to see such a thoughtful discussion of the situation. It’s so much more complex than most of us know.

I hope you feel how much we all love and appreciate the Weekend Reading. It’s my favorite Saturday email! The variety and diversity are always spot on. Loving all the Anthro right now! I kind of forget about them but I’m definitely getting that last maxi you linked. I want to add to the list of cookbooks for spring- Half Baked Harvest just released her 3rd cookbook on 3/29 and I am so excited to receive my copy!

As an introvert, I truly don’t know how you do what you do. I admire you and am sorry you had such a rough week. Your blog always gives me great ideas, and I appreciate the emotional honesty with which you write. Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh gosh, apprehensive here about the layout change. So many blogs going for these large icons, strange graphics —so many complaints about the Cup of Jo site changes, for instance. The navigation is so hard! Love the simplicity of your site here and your font you use… fingers crossed for the changes here ( loooong Time reader!)
