Weekend Reading | 3.30.19.

I hope you are having a great weekend! This week was an absolute blur between the pod, the blog, live show prep for Monday, and more! I was blown away by your responses to my inclusivity challenge. Seriously. Whoa. I am really excited for the next three months and to learn as much as possible (and support brands that ARE doing a good job). There is definitely a forgotten majority here and as I stressed on Instagram, I am not changing my content – it’s going to be the same stuff EXCEPT I am shifting to focus on brands in line with my style that accommodate a larger ranges of sizes. Stopping at a size 12 is unacceptable.

Also in big news from the week; this happened, which I still can’t even believe (all thanks to you guys and your AMAZING testimonials). My mom is in town this weekend (she’s coming to our live show!) so basically I am doing lots of family time and lots of work this weekend! Whatever you’re up to, I hope it’s fantastic! Oh and PS – for the fellow bloggers/etc that read here, I was on the Influencer Business podcast this week, if you want to check it out. Talking all about how I work with brands. XOXO

Before we dive in – two friends doing cool things that I’d love for you to check out. My friend Christine just launched a beautiful new website and my friend Alyssa launched a cool new line of (very clever and funny) merch!

Weekend Reading | 3.30.19

This got shared to the Bad on Paper Facebook Group and really made me laugh: how to deal after reading two contemporary romance novels.

Congrats to Reformation on expanding their sizes. I ordered this gorgeous white dress which is also available up to a 3X.

Did you catch the Elizabeth Warren TMZ video from Penn Station? I love it so much.

Really loved Helena’s pink suit!

Ordered this week: the perfect little gingham blouse!

Meet the dogs of the 2020 presidential race.

This tote makes me think of something I would have made at summer camp – in the best possible way.

Really, really excited about this Sex and the City followup!

Love this editor-approved guide to Marrakech (they did so many of the same things we did!)

My t-shirt drawer needed a refresh and I ordered this tee in four colors (white, black, and two bronzy browns). It’s the perfect classic tee!

A fun read about CW Stockwell + Martinique (that iconic Beverly Hills palm print) wallpaper.

LOVE a good kimono!

Did anyone else read and love this Man Repeller piece about saying no?! LOVE.

Love love loved this article in the Atlantic about Anthropologie’s new plus collection.

I’m obsessed with (and plan on living in!) these wide leg pants. They’re basically like chic sweatpants; just add a fun heel!

Really liked Krystal’s roundup of the best Spring trends.

I ordered this trench and am excited to try it – this brand is really inclusive but I’ve never ordered from them.

Such a good read: the simple way to make your life more pleasurable!

Next time I’m looking for a chocolatey treat I am 100% making this 15 minute chocolate lava cake for one!

Rediscovered my love for this face mask: it’s the best for calming and hydration!

OMG CAT DINOSAURS.

The most perfect wicker bag I ever did see!

This article is so good: what Shrill can teach us about the bare minimum boyfriend.

Did you read about the space suit scandal?

The perfect classic button down.

You have had an amazing week! Something that really stood out to me was the screenshot you shared of someone who said they had never basically had the misfortune of needing expanded sizing but they were glad you were working on sharing. As someone who is a size 12, that was such a humble and petty brag I couldn’t even get over it It still has stayed with me three days later that this mindset is WHY a size 12 is made in like quantities of two and boutiques buy ONE of them. Anyway, I have to let it go, but it just really discouraged me but I know we are going to get to a better place!

I COMPLETELY AGREE. And a LOT (like a LOT!) of people also reached out to me about that.

I had shared that comment to show how much we have to learn but didn’t want to publicly shame her as I did think her heart was in the right place and never want to isolate someone (at least publicly). I did reach out to her separately about that wording of “fortunate.” She replied immediately and felt embarrassed, saying she’d meant more that she’d never had the misfortune of not being able to find her size.

The world has so far to come, I hope my small step can help make a difference and get us pointed in the right direction.

Haha. The Elizabeth Warren video is hysterical. I love that she apologizes later for “running off.”

So much to comment on! First and foremost, congrats on Sephora! Obviously I love the dino cats and even the article about the dogs of the 2020 race. I follow Elizabeth Warren on IG and Bailey certainly IS featured frequently. Also nice to see that Beto’s cat got a mention in the article.
