Hello hello, happy Saturday! This week, I made pizza for my parents (see above… I did great!), had a few different parties, bought myself flowers, and just got a lot done for work. We shot our first holiday campaign which felt crazy (but was also really fun!). Election anxiety is a lot but I’m holding it together. One thing at a time, deep breaths. Whatever you are up to, I hope it’s a wonderful weekend! (And if you somehow missed it, my Sephora Sale guide went up yesterday). xo

I immediately read the always-late friend article because I am the always-late friend. I don’t have much to add to it besides what the psychologist shared in the article -it’s spot-on. On the flip side, I personally love it when people/appointments are running late. For starters, I definitely do not take it personally because I understand all of the factors that are likely behind the delay (perhaps the person has a tummy ache and needed extra bathroom time? Or they needed to stop at the pharmacy for tummy medication. Perhaps there was a rough morning situation that made it hard for the person to stay on schedule? Who knows?) I have dogs who always seem to manage to throw up at inopportune times -never on the weekend when I am home and have fewer obligations!. All I know is that I personally love it when people are running late. I enjoy having a few quiet moments to read my book (either on my Kindle app or a paperback I keep in my tote), catch up on texts and emails, read a fun newsletter (like this one!), research excursions for my upcoming trip, look up a new recipe, etc. just writing these now helps me look forward to those future, unscheduled moments. And I have to say I have a major pet-peeve about people who show up EARLY for things planned at my house especially. And even appreciate it when people are running late! In my life I have several on time – and even worse- early people. I have actually started to tell people a later time than I want them to arrive haha! (I’m not joking here)… I had a luncheon scheduled last month and just as I was jumping into the shower – 40 minutes before it began – they pulled into my driveway. I swear I am not being facetious with any of this. I just wish people were more gracious about not criticizing people for being late (or taking it personally). I swear it is not intended to be hurtful or personal. I have a demanding job (I am a therapist) and I don’t always get to leave my office when I want/plan to and I always remind (the on-time) people in my life. But that is not always respected or well-received. And it has totally changed a couple of lifelong friendships/relationships. It’s a tough one!
Haha. Everyone is different. I personally hate when someone is late and think it’s really rude, especially if it’s during the work week. If I have a busy day and I carve out the time to have lunch with a friend and she’s 20 minutes late, I’m fuming. It’s really disrespectful to the other person’s time!
I do agree that I hate when folks are early to my house. I’m often still getting set up or getting ready and it stresses me out.
