Happy… election day eve? How was your weekend? Mine was really nice. I had a movie night with Becca, I saw my niece, I got a massage, and had plenty of downtime in between. Some Melissa Wood Health and yoga, lots of reading (read an entire book + also still reading and really enjoying Joyful), snuggles under a blanket, etc. Calm and cozy which is absolutely my favorite sort of weekend.
Speaking of calm and cozy I did want to tell you what you can expect in terms of content this week. Given the seriousness of the election and the news cycle (and that frankly, I can’t do much more in terms of influencing you to vote – but yeah… please, please VOTE if you haven’t already!) the theme of this week’s blog content is going to be all about self-care. Think books and baths, and other calm, cozy things. I think we are all pretty scared and anxious right now and I want this blog to feel like safe space and a bit of a refuge. (Also, please vote!!!!) XOXO
This Week’s Good Things, 11.2.20
Goldune
This is my former intern (BaubleBar days intern, she’s all grown now!)’s new company and I could not be more proud of her… her new venture is SO cool. Goldune is an online boutique dedicated to approachable sustainability. As they say, you are welcome there whether you’re an “off grid homesteading climate marcher, or if you’re sipping your coffee out of a plastic to-go cup and you’ve never composted in your life. Every product they sell has an end of life plan and they look at everything from chemicals, ingredients, materials, and supply chain red flags when selecting merchandise for the site.
They also prioritize brands that are female and/or BIPOC owned. And the products themselves are gorgeous. I spent a lonnng time combing the site and there are so many things I love: this beautiful bamboo/lyocell towel set, this simple tray, tie-dye linen napkins… I could go on! They have everything… even cleaning products. Also, check them out on Instagram, they have a beautiful page.
Dana Rebecca x Liz Adams
I could not be more thrilled for my friend Liz: last week, she launched the most beautiful collection of jewelry with Dana Rebecca Designs! Read more about it in her blog post, right this way. The pieces are EXQUISITE. She spoiled me, sending me this necklace and this ring and I could not love them more! The necklace in particular is now one of my all time favorite pieces. I have a few pieces from Dana Rebecca and have been a fan of this brand for years… the quality is phenomenal and the diamonds are so sparkly.
Blue Apron Thanksgiving
Blue Apron is doing a special holiday meal kit which I think is so great – you can customize your box with a main course, sides, and dessert – all meant to serve 8 people (or have leftovers!). They partnered with award winning Chef Edouardo Jordan to plan the menu and it sounds so good… Spice-Roasted Turkey Breast & Skillet Poblano Cornbread, Pimento Cheese Mashed Potatoes, and more! Also, my affiliate link gets you $60 off your first 3 Blue Apron boxes.
*I have a partnership with Blue Apron but this mention is not sponsored – I just think it’s really cool, especially for those who are maybe not the best chefs but are hosting a smaller quarantine Thanksgiving!
Tanya Taylor x Pantone
My favorite colorful brand (Tanya Taylor) is at it again… they have collaborated on a line of color therapy tees with Pantone, and I loved seeing my friend Gray and her daughter as a part of the campaign! There are three tees… marine green (color me calm), pink (color me confident), and blue (color me creative). I think we can all agree that colorful can be such a powerful tool, impacting your mood… your energy… your productivity levels, etc… I love this idea!
Woo Me Beauty
This nail and cuticle serum is DIVINE. I learned about it from Jess Keys. If you are looking for a holiday gift for your girlfriends that a) everyone will like and b) supports a small, Black female-founded business, this would be absolutely perfect. It is so good for your nails and cuticles and really helps keep them strong and healthy. I like to do it before bedtime, on natural nails or over polish.

Thanks for sharing your favourites! I didn’t know it was election day – I don’t follow US news, oops. But I hope you have a great week! 🙂
Charmaine Ng | Architecture & Lifestyle Blog
Oh it’s a big one! Thanks Charmaine!
Self care is super important! I was talking with my husband last night and sharing a thought from a friend about going to sleep on Sunday and waking up on Wednesday, “when it’s all over”. My husband, always pragmatic says, oh this won’t be over for weeks unless it’s a landslide one way or the other…….we are going to need a lot of self care!
Could not agree more. Sending good vibes from Brooklyn and desperately hoping for a landslide!
also I think I spotted brightland olive oil in the Nordstrom gift guide, so fun!
oh yay! Love Brightland!
The Pantone t-shirts are adorable but yowza! $125 for a t-shirt? Even with 20 percent going to supply masks to schools, the price seems hard to justify.
Grace. I appreciate the self care focus. I’m just trying to stay awake until 8 o’clock tonight. Then sleep. (I hope)
I hope you were able to get some sleep!!!!
