The Up Next Edit, Vol. 9

I always love seeing Carly’s picks. She’s typically a step ahead of me, so it generally means that in a few months, I’ll want it too. You can read the last one here if you want more.

The Up Next Edit, Vol. 9

I’ve been trying to incorporate some unexpected pieces into my wardrobe lately, and I’m feeling inspired by the vibrancy of the colors, patterns, and materials coming down the runways this fashion month. While this roundup leans into my usual (black, black, and more black), I’m particularly drawn right now to shapes and silhouettes that bring a little more flair to the everyday. Maybe this is the month I finally convince myself that my wardrobe could use a little less black and a little more personality.

A few things in particular . . .

  • These clear pumps have been consuming so much of my brain for an embarrassingly long time. I get that they’re not everyone’s style, but I think they’re one of Tory Burch’s best accessories to date. To me, they’re a true “go-with-everything” shoe that you can dress down with jeans and the right jacket, or dress up with a midi-length dress or skirt to show off the full silhouette. I’ve actually been thinking about purchasing these to wear to my best friend’s wedding this coming May. Her color palette is warm and soft, so I love the idea of adding a little edge with an unexpected shoe that still feels versatile enough to wear long after the wedding.
  • There’s a lot of discourse about skirts being “in” right now. In my humble opinion, skirts have been and always will be in. It’s really about the confidence to wear them however you want, bringing a casual air to a piece that can often feel dressy or stiff. This wool A-line midi is just my speed: made from recycled vintage materials and essentially doubling as a walking art exhibit. It’s one-of-a-kind in every manner imaginable and bound to be a conversation starter for whoever snags it.
  • Sue me, I love suede for fall. As soon as the weather starts to shift, I instantly gravitate toward incorporating as much suede into my wardrobe as humanly possible. These low-rise pants are everything I want them to be: mildly sexy, but also just a really good everyday pant. Yes, they’re a bit over the top for a true “everyday pant” in the way we typically think about jeans, but imagine these with a slightly oversized vintage tee and sleek sneakers. VoilĂ , the recipe for a casual look!
