Tent Dress!

I have said this a bunch of times now, but for me, great personal style is all about finding those pieces that make you happy and you feel your best self in!

I was walking home from yoga back in September when I spotted this dress in the window of Swordsmith. (A really cool boutique that stocks up and coming independent designers. Just added them to my Williamsburg Guide!). It’s rare that an item stops me in my tracks but when I saw this one I immediately beelined it into the store to check it out. I was still sweaty from class so I didn’t even manage trying it on (I went with the XS/S as it’s very oversized!). It was a perfect fit and so I wore it out and about to a bunch of fashion week parties. (You may remember it from this Instagram).

Anyway, it was the perfect party dress in that. I got a lot of compliments on it. Also, I was incredibly comfortable all night, and I didn’t have to worry about what I ate/drank! The best.

I styled it here with my M. Gemi slingbacks but now that things have cooled down it will be fab with opaque black tights (I swear by these!) and ankle boots or a chunky black block heel (just bought these and love!) You could get more creative but I recommend black on black as it makes your legs look really long, which you kind of want when you’re wearing such an oversized dress!)

Outfit Details:

Henrik Vibskov Dress // Burberry Kensington Trench Coat // Vintage Chanel Bag // M. Gemi Heels (also here) // Lele Sadoughi Earrings // Celine Sunglasses

PS – A few more (under $150) oversized dresses are in the widget below but I really love this oversized shirt dress and this one, too!

(OH! I don’t think I’ve addressed this yet but a cool new function in my blog widgets is that if you click the hearts, you can save items to get sale alerts! Honestly, I haven’t played with this much yet but it’s pretty cool!)

I hope you guys are having a good week. I had a really nice weekend and then a busy day yesterday. This morning, I’m up early and headed uptown to shoot a project with The Carlyle with Krystal and Olivia. The Carlyle (and Bemelman’s!) is one of my favorite places in the city – it’s so romantic and old school New York, so it’s a huge honor to work with them. Honestly, I can’t wait to share the photos from our shoot!!

That seems like an amazing dress! It’s so different and original and even though it’s baggy and comfortable I think it looks really flattering.

Yeah, it’s definitely a lot more flattering than some of the other tent dresses I own! 🙂

This whole outfit looks so amazing. Unfortunately being 5 feet tall, the dress would not go well on me. On the bright side, I am inspired with the color block and pattern that you’ve put together. I’ll start with those shoes.
    Have a great day!
