Recent Affordable Shopping Finds.
h&m dress

Today I wanted to share a few recent purchases that I’ve really liked! These are all things I bought, kept, and have either worn already (some may be familiar, some not yet) or you’ll see again soon. But since I do fewer outfit posts on the blog these days, I worry they’ll sell out before I get around to photographing them with Allie (or wearing them on stories) so wanted to a roundup here! This housedress from H&M is a favorite. I bought it in black and tan (they call the tan “dark yellow” – it’s not remotely yellow!) and since it’s pretty oversized, I took a small which was the right decision. I wore it on Instagram here and was wearing the black one yesterday and got a ton of questions about it when I posted to stories.

Here are 8 more things I’ve recently purchased and loved! I tried to give as much information about sizing and fit, but if you have any questions just leave ’em in the comments!

Recent Affordable Shopping Finds!

Amazon Green Button DownAmazon Green Button Down

OK I promise to wear this adorable $18 button down IRL and put it on my stories SOON because the photos of this shirt do NOT do it justice! It looks cheap and wrinkly in these photos but in real life, it’s very cute and (IMO) actually pretty expensive looking! I got so many questions about it when I wore it out with friends, no one could believe it was a cheapie Amazon find. It runs loose. I took a medium but probably could have done with a small. That being said, I’ve got a long torso so am happy that I went with the medium. With the knot front, I want it a little longer… not into the whole crop top thing.

But seriously, get this top – it’s so cute. The green is selling out and I may go back for it in black! (The white one looks too sheer though I’m sure it could be fine with the right bra?) EDITED TO ADD: The emerald green sold out this morning. It looks like Amazon put similar styles together on the same product page. I can only speak to the version with a collar… which is still available in both black and white. I can’t speak to the collarless version!

Target Puff Sleeve SweatshirtTarget Puff Sleeve Sweatshirt

This puff sleeve sweatshirt is the greatest. It’s probably my favorite recent purchase and you’re probably sick of me talking about it but I want to keep talking about it as it’s such a great price AND it’s so cute. I have to give credit where credit is due, I saw it on Liz first and totally copied her. It reminds me so much of my favorite Rebecca Minkoff sweatshirt except with short sleeves for summer. I’ve gotten a LOT of wear out of it already. So you’ve seen it a few times now but I wanted to include it in this round-up as well!

It’s really soft and good quality, and it’s just super cute. It’s long, too, which I always appreciate. I bought a medium. It is a little big but I am planning to send it out with wash & fold (NY laundry problems!) so it will probably shrink up a little bit. I may order the black one too, and it also comes in a pretty feminine blush color.

Raffia BeltRaffia Belt

I had been looking for a cute stretchy raffia belt to wear with my dresses and it’s like Amazon knew what I was looking for as they (completely unprompted) suggested this belt to me. Alexa, are you listening to me? (Duh, she’s always listening). Anyway, this belt is very very cute. They have SO many styles (like every imaginable buckle shape) but I like the square buckle. This is the “sand” color. It only comes in two sizes (waist under 36″ and waist under 42″)  – since it’s long and stretchy it’s easy to get your perfect fit.

You will be seeing a lot more of this belt. I am particularly excited to wear it with the dresses from my Drop collection that have a waist. It will be absolutely perfect with those!  Did I mention it’s under $10? Such a steal.

Leopard Print TeeLeopard Print Tee

This leopard tee was one of those Amazon purchases where I was like… this could be either really awesome or really awful. I was fully prepared for it to be that stiff yucky cotton that doesn’t move, or for the print to look cheap. But IRL, it’s actually very very cute. It comes in several different variations (crew neck! v-neck! other patterns like camo and cheetah and zebra). I got “Leopard01” (gotta love Amazon descriptions) and took a medium which fits me perfectly. It’s really cute, and a fun way to freshen up my summer go-to combination of cut-offs and an easy tee or tank.  And at $17 it won’t break the bank!

Paper Bag Waist ShortsPaper Bag Waist Shorts

This pair of shorts was another “this might be terrible” purchase (sorry to Amazon, I am just being honest!). I saw them on the website and thought they had cute potential but again, was not sure. Also: shorts are just generally terrible to shop for. I carry my weight in my butt and hips and when I shop for shorts, generally wind up returning AT least 50% of what I buy. These are so cute though. I bought the tan “earth” pair first and then went back and got the black ones too as I like them so much. They also come in a cute “dutch blue” color.

The fit is fantastic, they’re really comfortable, and they are a nice step up from wearing cut-offs. I like to pair them with a knotted tank (the white tank below is PERFECT with them), or a slightly cropped t-shirt or blouse. As with the other items, I promise to wear them on stories SOON! But for $40 you cannot go wrong!

My new favorite tankMy new favorite tank

This tank top is actually what spurred putting this post together as I realized it’s already sold out in black and I only just bought mine last week. I got it in black and white and just bought a second white one because I like it SO MUCH. It’s made from a 50% cotton/50% modal blend so it’s cooling. You could work out in it if you wanted to. (Don’t work out in it, it’s too cute!) And it’s LONG, meaning you can knot it with high-waisted skirts and dresses. Or you could wear it loose, or tuck it in. It’s practically a tunic. But the fit and fabric are what make it so nice.

The white one is still in stock and it comes in fuchsia (not for me) as well. Hopefully they’ll restock the black soon. It does have a slight racerback; I will either wear a strapless bra or a pretty bra that I don’t mind showing the straps. Runs true to size, I took a medium!

Long grey teeLong grey tee

I was on the hunt for new t-shirts and of everything I ordered, this one was hands down my favorite (I ordered quite a few and this was the one I wound up NOT returning). It’s just a great basic tee. For my particular body type, I find that a v-neck + longer silhouette is what I feel my best in, and this fits the bill. It runs pretty big. I took a medium, my usual size, but I wanted it to be big! So if you want something more fitted, just size down. It comes in a bajillion cute colors, I think I will probably order a couple more (the navy looks really pretty).

Right now I wear it with cut-offs (I do a little half tuck) but it will be great with jeans in the fall, or if you choose to wear them, bike shorts, since it’s nice and long. I am personally anti-bike shorts for myself but I know a lot of people are into them and can’t fault you for that – they do look very comfortable!

Recent Affordable Shopping FindsPretty Target Blouse

I originally ordered this blouse as the print reminded me so much of a Marimekko blouse I saw years ago and regretted not buying. (Funny how some purchases haunt us a bit, but good cute tops are hard to find!!!) This one is special because of all the details. The fabric has a really cool texture to it… I’m not sure of the word for it but it almost feels embossed? So the fabric has it’s own sort of texture and pattern, and then it’s got this gorgeous painterly pattern. It has a slight puff sleeve, with ties at the arms, and one detail I didn’t pick up on from the photos is that it has buttons all the way down the back. These little touches make it feel really special, like something you bought from Marni or an indie boutique… certainly not Target! I highly recommend.

Hi, Grace! Did you find the paper bag shorts to run true to size? I’m always in between sizes and never know with Amazon brands. Thanks!

Hi Grace, is there a different Amazon link for the emerald green shirt? The one you linked to is an olive green and not in the shiny type fabric, also has different neckline and pockets. It’s beautiful, which is why I want to make sure I get the correct one. Thank you!

Hey Michelle! UGH it looks like the emerald green shirt sold out! It was still available last night when I edited the post… I’m sorry. The Amazon product page is a little funny. There are several different styles. The one like mine still comes in black and white, maybe try it in black?

Loving all of these picks, thanks! FYI…It seems like the product pictures & the pictures from people who purchased vary a lot for the green blouse. Some have small buttons, some large, some pockets, some not. Maybe amazon listed a few products as the same name? Or maybe the first version sold out? I know you have nothing to do with that. Just thought I’d make you aware. I’m bad about not looking closely when buying anything (home products, etc.) on amazon and not getting what I thought I was getting. I’m getting better though! Thanks again for the picks!

Yeah I know… the exact one I linked to sold out this morning. It’s confusing as there’s an olive green one that’s similar to mine but has no collar. It’s annoying how Amazon puts different styles onto the same product page and calls them “colors.” The one I have comes in black and white. The white one looks to sheer but the black one is very cute.

I have a raffia belt I picked up several years ago from Forever21 (a store I hate, ha!) and it is seriously my most worn summer accessory. It feels SO elevated and makes any little dress so much more special.

Drat, it looks like the racer back tank top is sold out in all colors now. I ordered the long v-neck shirt in black, it’ll replace my stretched out J Crew Factory “vintage” V-neck (it looks more & more vintage every time I wash it, ha, ha).
