I have been meaning to get a revised post up about travel essentials for so long now. I’ve written several posts here about travel, but it had been a few years… mostly pre-pandemic stuff. Today, we are doing a big update!
First of all, what to wear. If it isn’t a long flight, I dress nicely. You never know who you are going to run into at the airport, and I like feeling put together. Usually a long dress (no bare skin touching the seat!) in a cotton fabric that I can throw in the wash upon returning home. If it is a longer flight, I love either a tee and cashmere joggers (or this new set!) with a big cashmere wrap over it. The wrap doubles as a blanket for overnight flights. Also, compression socks! This piece has all the benefits of wearing compression socks if that is interesting to you.
My favorite personal item is my Dagne Dover Large Landon tote. (And the tech organizer, too). It holds everything, keeps my stuff organized… it’s easy to clean, it fits under the seat in front of me, it’s just perfect. Read on below for the rest of my travel favorites across tech, beauty, travel, and beyond!

Hi Grace! Do you find your Rimowa carry-on heavy? I have the lighter material and always contemplate the aluminum, but am worried about the weight. Thank you!
No — I mean it isn’t ultra light or anything but it’s comparable to other luggage! I’d had an aluminum set from Tumi first (it had been gifted to me) and it was beautiful but much heavier than the Rimowa. I gave that to my boyfriend as he’s stronger than me, ha ha.
I ordered that jewelry case after seeing it a bunch of places, but the zipper broke the second time I used it. It was very disappointing.
Oh man, sorry to hear that! Mine is still in great shape and I’ve had it for a couple yers.
Do you ever worry about your suitcase being stolen? Having an expensive purse is one thing since you know it will likely never leave your possession, but I worry I would be a target with a $1500 suitcase. I have a nice Bric’s spinner that I carry on, but once in a blue moon the airline forces me to check it and go through baggage claim. The suitcase is more expensive than the total sum of the contents and I worry that it is screaming STEAL ME.
I don’t. Maybe I should, but I air tag my bags, carry on most of the time, etc. I don’t know, I feel okay about it but I get it if others dont’!
I should note that I still have an Away suitcase. When my family and I went to Belize I took that and left the Rimowa home. But for the rest of the trips, I’ve taken the Rimowa and haven’t worried.
Good advice. Thanks!
