This past Friday, I threw a big party to celebrate 10 years of blogging! It was my first time planning such a big event. I threw a party when the blog turned 5 (and I changed the name) but that was much smaller than this one. I was pretty nervous leading up to the big day but it all went off without a hitch. As it was a celebration of ten years, I went with an aluminum theme which is the traditional gift for a ten year anniversary. I love a theme party and loved that so many of my guests embraced the theme wholeheartedly. I wore this Tanya Taylor dress (on MAJOR sale – also available here in a few sizes) and these Sarah Flint heels. And these earrings from Ippolita.

It was my first time planning an event of this scale and was a little bit intimidating! Like, how many bottles of seltzer do you need for that many people and their drinks!? What about limes!? Catering??? I definitely over-ordered. My friend Alex was a huge help here – she does this for a living and helped me hire bartenders and glassware rentals, order a step & repeat, and reigned me in when I tried to order 2,000 napkins for a 100 person event.

The Venue

I was really lucky in that my friends at Fohr let me use their beautiful space. Finding a good venue can be really hard (and expensive) so that was huge. And their gorgeous emerald green bar was PERFECT. Josh provided all of the wines, Chambord made a DELICIOUS signature cocktail (recipe below), Hi-Chew sent candy for all my guests, Sephora did a little raffle, and Dunkin‘ created the most amazing donuts with my face + logo on them. I hired BFA to take photos and Eataly to do the catering, I bought these (amazing) snack bowls (they’re great bc they are cheap and collapsible), and I made little drink menus + framed them with these frames.

It was an amazing night but what really made it special was how many people came. My mom flew up from Charleston, a lot of my family came, and so many friends (both old and new) joined. It was definitely a night I will never forget!

Chambord provided the most delicious signature cocktail and I wanted to share the recipe for it below! I love that it had tequila too, and I love that it wasn’t too sweet!

The Barcelonette

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 Parts HerraduraSilver (or any silver ttequila!)
  • 0.5 Part Chambord Liqueur
  • 1 Part Grapefruit Mexican Soda (we used Fresca as we couldn’t find Squirt).
  • 3 Blackberries
  • 3 Blueberries
  • 1 Strawberry
  • 1 Part Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 Part Honey Syrup
  • 4 Mint Leaves

Method
In a mixing glass, muddle all the fruit with mint leaves and honey syrup. Combine the rest of the ingredients and shake vigorously (except for Soda Water – top that off later). Strain into a glass, stir in Grapefruit Mexican Soda with fresh ice and garnish with mint, lemon wheel, blackberry, and a strawberry.
