Let’s Talk Swimwear!

Today, Carly and I are each sharing our favorite swimwear. Once again, it is fun to see the differences between our different styles and ages. The one unifying thing here is that swim isn’t something either of us love shopping for. (An understatement, I kind of hate it!). That’s why it’s so important to have tried & true favorites you can rely on.

Grace’s Favorites!

I have definitely gotten more conservative in my swimwear choices. I will not do cheeky and rarely will go for a two piece (though Left on Friday does make a pretty great one!). I instead tend to favor pretty but practical one-pieces. I love that a great one-piece can double as a bodysuit. Just add a fun kimono or a pair of breezy pants and you can transition from beach/pool to cocktails.

You will notice I’ve included two suits from Stylest, which became a favorite brand when I bought one for my trip to Harbour Island. Simple and elegant, with compression that makes a noticeable difference without being uncomfortable. I bought one with my own money before agreeing to partner with them on Instagram yesterday. They gifted me one and then used my code to buy two more. I now have navy, brown, red, and white! Needless to say, I love this brand. GRACESTYLEST will get you 10% off your order. Truly cannot recommend these suits enough. Lastly, my favorite “fancy” swimsuit is this one from Zimmermann. The cut is perfect and I love the pattern.

Carly’s Picks!

I hate to say it, but if there’s one thing I have a hard time investing in…it’s swim. I’m not one to spend too much time in the sun (hello freckles and fair skin!) so every summer I tend to commit to one piece of swimwear and hope for the best. This summer I’ve actually got quite a bit of travel planned that will require some family friendly swim, so I did my fair share of research to find pieces that offered slightly more coverage while still feeling true to my style!

Onia and Solid & Striped offer some really great options, but my tried and true set is from supermodel Candice Swanepoel’s line tropic of c. The triangle top and side tie bottoms fall on the cheekier side, but really hug my smaller frame perfectly. This is one of those sets that I personally believe would look beautiful on everyone!

Love this roundup, especially the fanciful cover-ups!

Grace, I’m very drawn to the Stylest tanks but am curious about the coverage/support in the bust area. It kind of stresses me out that they show the suits with models wearing bras under them–that sounds so uncomfortable and not something I have the energy for 🙂 Do you wear anything under them or feel that they are sufficient on their own?

I also had to smile at Carly’s comment that everyone would look beautiful in the tiny bikini set. That is such a lovely sentiment, but hard for me to agree with when I try to imagine myself wearing it!

I don’t wear a bra under mine! I find they hold you in very well. There is compression throughout and a shelf bra that lifts ’em up nicely.

That made me smile too. One thing I have noticed about the younger generation (which makes me so happy) is their seemingly effortless body positivity. Body positivity/neutrality is something I have to really work at – even when wearing one of my conservative one pieces! I am trying to channel more of that Gen Z joie de vivre/not caring in my own life but like you, couldn’t imagine wearing something so tiny! I think it’s all about your mindset.

Love your picks, Grace. I too am all for solid color one-pieces and adding a fun patterned sarong, shorts or cover-up. At this point in my life, I stick to strapless one-pieces so I don’t get bad tan lines, but I love a halter neckline too because you can untie it for the same effect. I’m really into board shorts for walks on the beach so I can have my phone with me for music and step counting. I wish there were more cute options!

I, too, have a Hunza G suit in my cart. Would love to hear your feedback if you end up making the purchase.

Grace, your swimsuit choices are beautiful. I went on a recent shopping trip to a local swim shop and tried on a LOT of suits. The only ones that fit me were by Paula. The thing I struggle with are the bottoms! The are too loose in a way. They do not hug in back , really just a weird fit for me. The Paula suits do not ride up, stay in place, hug, and compress just right. But the selection at the store was so limited. I like all the one piece suits you’ve shown us. How do they fit in the area described? I know it is hard to understand exactly!
