Fall Dress Edit

I talked about this a few weeks ago but I have been spending a longgggggggg time scouring all of my favorite retailers to pull together a few different shopping guides. This week we will have accessories (bags/shoes/everything else) a little later + dresses (today), and next week will have tops and bottoms.

Fall is my favorite season to shop for and where I tend to spend a little more money. Though it is a little different down here in Charleston as we have summer weather through early November and then fall temperatures during the winter. Still, I switch up the color palette, wear denim even when I’m hot, and wear boots (now clogs) even though sandals would probably be more comfortable.

You know how much I love a good dress. This is a pretty massive round-up, thirty to be exact. We have midis, we have maxis… we have splurges, and also some really great affordable finds! I have a lot of them and want the rest. Hope you love this round-up as much as I do!

You look wonderful in everything ALWAYS. Maybe if I was your age/size etc I would go with so many of the smocked/flowy/ruffled/cutout dresses…but then think if I was young I would want to wear more fitted items (not bodycon but more like pencil skirts, sheaths, etc) . I think that the current dress styles are just not a look I like nor can wear. Thanks for including the sweater and shirtdresses. To be honest I worry I have aged out of fashion and style…I hope not because I love clothes and fashion, even things I either can no longer wear or afford (hahaha…which is often the case)

      Thank you Nancy!
To be honest, I often feel the same way – as though I’ve aged out of fashion and style. I think you should just wear what you want and not worry about if it isn’t on trend. And if something doesn’t speak to you, just skip it!

Fall dresses are my biggest closet challenge. I have officially sworn off any sweater dresses, and now searching for something like that Mille dress. Love that! I think thats the vibe I’m going for.

My skin tone prefers jewel-tones to pastels and floral patterns, so this is the time of year I shop for lighter weight, darker color dresses for both fall AND the following spring. Same goes for t-shirts and blouses. By the time spring rolls around, the stores are only pushing pink and at the darkest–navy. I will totally wear that burgundy Anthropologie dress in May with springy accessories to lighten it up. Love! Great roundup.

I love those oversized sweater dresses, and I gravitate toward shapeless midi dresses but then in photos they look terrible. Are people still belting dresses? Any advice on how to give them more shape? Or should I just appreciate what I love and go for it anyway, shapeless sacks and all (haha!)

You could totally belt it but my advice is to just lean into it 🙂
