I have been playing around with DIY face masks during quarantine… (remember this turmeric one? That’s another favorite!) This is partially because it’s fun (I love playing around with natural skin ingredients and seeing what works), but also because skin care can get expensive, and I want to provide you guys with as many great skincare options as possible.
Maybe you’re in the mood to splurge on the Tata Harper resurfacing mask or something fancy like that (these are my top 5 fav face masks right now), but maybe not! This can be made with just a couple ingredients and it’s SHOCKINGLY effective. I still can’t get over how soft and smooth my skin felt after using it.
DIY Avocado Honey Yogurt Face Mask
Ingredients
This is very simple and it’s fantastic for dry skin. All you need is greek yogurt + a quarter of an avocado. And a little bit of honey if you want to throw that in.. but it’s not necessary!
Mask Benefits
This mask leaves your skin SO SMOOTH, and also very hydrated. The yogurt contains lactic acid, which is an amazing gentle exfoliant. It smooths and brightens, without any irritation. Meanwhile, the mashed avocado is super hydrating and soothing. So this simultaneously exfoliates while adding moisture and soothing the skin – a perfect combo!
How to make the mask:
- Mash up a quarter of an avocado into a creamy paste.
- (Optional) Put the other quarter onto a piece of toast, add a little pink salt, and eat it.
- Add in one tablespoon of greek yogurt (and a little honey if you like)!
- Stir with a fork until the mixture is super creamy and smooth.
Applying the Mask:
I like to apply the mask with a brush. It’s cold and creamy and feels amazing on your skin. This is messy and it might drip so I definitely would recommend doing this in a robe, towel, or old tee. I also like to do this before the shower as it’s easier to take off!
Brush the mask all over your face. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes (it probably won’t dry) and then just rinse it off with lukewarm water!
If you have any favorite mask recipes, I’d love to know. I think my next DIY mask is going to be a honey mask… Share your favs in the comments!

I’ve never actually tried a DIY mask before! This looks like a fun DIY… but first I’d have to get an avocado haha! ❤️✨

Haha! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Step #2 is my fave.
hahaha 🙂
So this may seem like a weird question- is there an alternative to yogurt? The smell of it makes me . I’d happily do a DIY (cheap) mask but cannot stomach the idea of yogurt.
Haha I have no idea – maybe milk or sour cream!
I think I will try this next Sunday! Sundays are always my mask days 🙂
