Somewhere around age 35, I realized that I needed a little extra coverage on my face. I have never been a big fan of a full face of makeup unless I have a big event or a photo shoot – I’m lazy, and like to keep things simple. In my twenties and even early thirties I mostly would just do skincare and then a little bit of bronzer… and MAYBE a bit of concealer if I had something I wanted to cover up.
But as I’ve gotten older, my skin needs a little help. Just a little bit… nothing too crazy or time consuming! I’m always trying out new things but here are two that I really love for what I call my everyday skin. Not working from home and not seeing anyone (I do this a lot and don’t wear any makeup!) but not a big night out!
It’s just two products, three if you count a BeautyBlender!
The first product is Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow Primer.
If you listen to the podcast, you know that Becca and I are both BIG fans of this product. Our makeup artist friend used it on both of us before the New York live show and we both ordered immediately as it’s one of the prettiest highlighters either of us have ever tried. It’s amazing as a primer under makeup or tinted moisturizer but I also like patting a little bit on the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose OVER makeup. It looks really natural; like you just happen to be really glowy and radiant.
I put this on after skincare. Depending on my mood I’ll put it on my whole face or just areas I want to highlight (cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of nose, cupid’s bow).
After that I will apply Beautycounter’s Dew Skin.
I LOVE this tinted moisturizer. I had always been a big fan of Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer (still love that even more but it’s one of the products I replaced in my effort to use more clean products. I’m about 80/20 clean vs. dirty and NO the Charlotte Tilbury is not clean but I love it. You have to pick your battles, and I’ve found Dew Skin to be the closest clean swap I’ve tried.) It’s the perfect no-makeup makeup, and I LOVE that it’s also got SPF 20.
That’s it! Then it’s the usual stuff; a little bronzer, a little blush, mascara and brows and I’m out the door. But these two products make such a huge difference in terms of achieving glowy, radiant skin. (And let’s be honest… looking awake, haha).

The Dew Skin product sounds really good! I prefer makeup that puts skincare first, so this is perfect. Thanks for the review, Grace. ✨

Thanks Charmaine!
“Looking awake” – as I age I find this to be the struggle! I’m not tired but I look tired 🙁 Ice rolling and a bit of coverage have been my new to me go to remedies. I’ve found placing a few key items in my office can help on days like today when I have a big meeting and I just don’t look 100%. Happy Thursday – we are almost to the weekend!!
Right? I just saw some photos of myself where I looked SO TIRED. It was horrifying. Ice rolling really helps a lot too, you’re right! Happy Thursday Shana! xo
Hi! What shade do you wear in the Beauty counter dew skin?
My shade is No. 2!
Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer isn’t clean?! 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 I seriously use it almost every day! Guess I need to do some homework… Thanks for the recommended replacement!
No it’s not. And let’s be clear, I’m not an angel and use a lot of “dirty” products, but when I can find a clean alternative I’m really happy. The Dew Skin is a great clean dupe!
Oooh, I might give that CT tinted moisturizer a try. I am so done with foundations nowadays!

The CT is a highlighter/primer! Dew Skin is the tinted moisturizer. It’s amazing!
I LOVE the Beautycounter dew skin! Their skincare is also amazing! I’m working on making the shift to clean products and their skincare has CHANGED the game for me!!
Glad t o hear it!
My two-step process is Coola tinted matte sunscreen followed by Kosas tinted face oil. The Kosas goes on like an oil but is completely matte. So much so that in the Winter, I swap out the sunscreen for a moisturizer (don’t have a favourite). I started with Kosa for the lipstick but now I use both the lipsticks (Thrillist!) and the oil.
I am intrigued about the CT highlighter though. It may be my next purchase after my move!
Oooh thanks for sharing!!! I LOVE the Kosas oil – I was at a Sephora event and my friend Sarah convinced me to buy it; it’s really great!!!
Hi! I’ve been obsessed with CT Hollywood Filter since your review on it. Do you still use it or in combo with this CT primer at all? Or is that glow overkill? …if such a thing even exists!
I love that one too! I have been using that one less (for no reason other than being fickle / having too many products / falling in love with the Wonderglow). I think if I were going to use them together I would use the Hollywood Filter as a highlighter OVER this combo, does that make sense?
Oh I just love CT Wonder glow!

It’s the BEST!
Thanks for the recs, Grace! Is the texture of the Dew Skin as thick as the Laura Mercier? I am interested but like a lighter texture for summer. I’ve been using the Dr Jart + Beauty Balm. It’s good but I’m always interested in new things!
It’s about the same. It’s a little thick BUT I think that’s because it also contains (mineral) SPF, which I love this time of year. For something lighter I am really into Kosia’s tinted face oil!
Any sense of how this duo would perform on oiler skin (especially in hot weather)? Dewy can turn to shiny in a heartbeat! Thanks from another Cape Cod girl!
That’s really hard to say as my own skin is pretty dry. It might be too much for you!
