If you have followed me for a long time, you know that Briogeo is my absolute favorite hair care brand. Highly effective products that are also clean, natural, and from a Black-owned business. Their products are 6-free meaning there are no harsh sulfates, no silicones, no parabens, no phthalates, no artificial dyes, and no DEA. The brand’s proprietary NOVA complex works to fortify, nourish, and protect the hair.
I personally have very dry hair, and a dry scalp. In the past I have been turned off by dandruff shampoos as they smelled weird or dried out my hair… opting to use Briogeo’s Scalp Revival Scrub instead (this was the product that first made me fall in love with Briogeo — it smells just like a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie and gets your hair and scalp so, so clean… it’s one of my absolute favorite products of all time). When I found out that Briogeo was launching a new companion shampoo (their Scalp Revival Dandruff Relief Shampoo!) I could not wait to try it. Everything I have tried from this brand is so, so good… spoiler alert, this shampoo is excellent!!!!

Briogeo’s Brand New Scalp Revival Shampoo
We will talk about the new shampoo in a sec but Briogeo’s entire Scalp Revival product line is wonderful. My favorite is the scrub but there is also a cooling and hydrating mask (this feels so good on the scalp!), a dry shampoo, a treatment, and a scalp massager.
Briogeo’s new Scalp Revival Shampoo is made from 92% naturally derived ingredients and harnesses the power of salicylic acid (3%!) to reduce scalp irritation and redness, and (of course!) pesky flaking and scaling associated with dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and/or psoriasis. I have been using this once a week (I wash my hair 2x a week and use the Don’t Despair, Repair Shampoo on the other day) and have seen a noticeable improvement. You can use it after using the scalp scrub, or just use it on its own.
Here are the key ingredients (besides salicylic acid) that help it work so well!
Lactic Acid hydrates and exfoliates.
Binchotan Charcoal gently cleanses and helps to diminish impurities, excess oil, and build-up (sometimes I can’t tell if I have dandruff or just use too much dry shampoo – this tackles both things!)
Tea Tree Oil soothes!
The best way to use it is to use it directly after the scalp scrub as the scrub will remove the top layer of dry flakes dirt, and grime (ew!) setting the shampoo up to do its best work. But you can totally use it without the scrub for dandruff maintenance!
A big thank you to Briogeo for sponsoring this post. Photography by Laura Saur.
Have been loving the scrub since you first recommended it and agree with your thin mint description. Can’t wait to try this new shampoo. Thanks for sharing Grace!
You’re welcome, I hope you love it!
I’m assuming if you’re using it that it’s safe on color-treated hair? I looooove Brigeo (thanks to you!) and also have disgusting dandruff no matter what I do so am so excited to try this!
Yup! It’s safe for color treated, keratin treated, chemically-treated, and relaxed hair.
I’ve been using the scrub and love it although it doesn’t do much for my dermatitis. It’s the new one ok to use on its own to replace the scrub or did it need to be used together to work?
Hi Karina, YES, you can use this on its own.
Ugh, I SO wish the scalp scrub worked for me – I had such high hopes! Unfortunately, it made my hair fall out like crazy (… like a panic-inducing amount), both in the shower during use & after. I’ll stick to their hair masks instead!
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that, it’s one of my all time favorite products!
Do you recommend this shampoo for oily hair? I bought Olaplex and it works terribly for my hair. My roots feel extra oily and my ends extra dry. Would love your recommendations!
Hi Georgia, I want to say yes but it is hard for me to speak to other hair types (my own hair is so so so dry, the reason I don’t like most dandruff shampoos is that they dry out my hair). The product page says that it is great for all hair types.
I am not Grace but I my hair is VERY oily and I just added this shampoo to my cart! Charcoal, salicylic acid, and lactic acid are all great at clearing out oil on your face, so my guess is they’d do the same for oil on your scalp! (My dad actually uses a prescription strength shampoo with salicylic acid for this reason.)
Thank you so much for chiming in Heather!
I am obsessed with Briogeo and their scalp products. It’s also the smell for me! When I open it, the smell is always heavenly no matter how many times I have used it 🙂
I LOVE their products!
