If you have been a follower for long, you know that I feel passionately about my Bombas socks. They are pretty much the only athletic/functional socks I wear and there are so many reasons!
I first found out about Bombas years ago via my friend Mollie Chen. I didn’t understand. She recommended them for running and raved fanatically about them. “Why would anyone spend that much on running ankle socks!?” I thought. And then I tried them for myself and understood the hype. They were easily the most comfortable socks I had ever put on my feet. And now I am hooked. I will also add that they hold up very well in the wash. These are quality socks. Mine have all been washed and dried a million times now and still look great. Today we are going to talk about Bombas socks and why I like them so much. I hope this review is helpful!!
To be totally honest, the number one reason I love Bombas is that they are a good company. I feel good wearing Bombas as they do such a great job giving back to the community. If you didn’t already know, socks are the most requested item in homeless shelters. For every pair of Bombas socks purchased, the company will donate a pair. You can read more about the brand’s mission, to-date over a hundred million items have been donated!
But there are other reasons. For one, they are extremely comfortable socks. For another, they are supportive and have blister tabs to keep the back of my foot protected. They are just really wonderful socks; other sock brands don’t compare. Also, some good news. I have a code for Bombas. If you are a new customer, GRACE20 will get you 20% off sitewide!
bombas sock review
This brand has a really good story, so we will start with that. Did you know that Bombas got their start from Shark Tank, back in 2014? They are also one of the most successful companies to come out of Shark Tank! One of the founders (David Heath) discovered that socks are the number one most requested item in homeless shelters. He and his cofounder Randy Goldberg started carrying around socks to give to those in need. They realized there was an opportunity to help more people and wanted to start a mission-based “buy one, give one” model. Through Shark Tank, they struck a deal with Daymond John, who understood the direct to consumer model. The rest was history and ten years later, the brand is at over $1 billion in lifetime revenue. Pretty cool.
Also, a bit of trivia! The name “Bombas” comes from the Latin word for bumblebee. According to the brand’s website, “Bees live in a hive and work together to make their world a better place. They’re small, but have a big effect on things.” The company’s “Bee Better” mantra is stitched into its apparel and is a reminder to push your self harder and well, to just be… better!

Women’s Ankle Socks
The Bombas’ ankle sock is definitely the style I wear most. I know my elder millennial is showing here (the “kids” are all wearing tube socks to work out in and I hear that no show socks and ankle socks are “out” but whatever, I don’t really care! I like my simple ankle socks and feel most comfortable in them at the gym. There is a huge range of colors and materials but my favorite is just the solid white (I recommend the four pack!).
The key features of this sock (and most Bombas socks are:
- Honeycomb arch support system. The sock actually cradles the arch of your foot (it feels a bit like a hug!).
- A seamless toe so that there is no bump that runs across the toes of most socks.
- A cushioned ankle tab to prevent heel blisters.
- A cushioned footbed for extra comfort and support!
Women’s Half Calf Socks
This style is definitely the more current look for the gym (and I love the new vintage striped version!) with all of the same benefits (arch support, seamless toe, cushioned footbed) as the ankle sock.

Women’s Merino Wool Blend Calf Sock
These are my fav winter socks! I wear them around a lot with birks or clogs, they are truly so comfy and cozy… perfect for everyday wear. The merino wool makes what is already a very plush sock even cozier. And I love the colors. (If you want something very neutral and classic, go with this pack!). These are probably my favorite non-athletic sock from Bombas. It’s worth feeling that they aren’t like traditional wool socks in that they are super soft (not scratchy at all) and not so thick that you can’t wear them with regular shoes.
Women’s Pointelle Frill Quarter Socks
A cute fashion-y option! I love these, they are adorable and make for a cute dress sock… but still have all of the same benefits as the rest of Bombas’ socks. I like that they are frilly and girly. These combine all the practical stuff like a seamless toe and arch support with pretty and playful details (the pointelle fabric, the frilly cuff). They’re perfect with loafers.
Women’s Compression Socks
Bombas’ compression socks are an absolute must-have for travel. I always keep a pair on hand in my carry on for longer flights (basically, if a flight is over four hours, I am wearing them). I wrote a longer post about the benefits of compression socks and stand by everything I said in that post! Note that Bombas has two different types of compression socks: a lighter compression (15-20mmHg) that just feels good for lounging or shorter flights OR a more technical “serious” compression (20-30mmHg) for longer flights, muscle recovery, or increased circulation.
are bombas socks worth it?
In my opinion, yes. Bombas socks feel worth the money to me. I love how comfortable they are, I love that I never get blisters when I wear them (even if I’m breaking in a new pair of sneakers). I wear them constantly and years later all of my Bombas socks are still in great shape… they are durable and the quality is great. They are the only socks I will wear if I am working out, and I love that the brand is expanding into some more fashion forward options as well!
bombas socks sizing
If you are in between sizes, Bombas recommends sizing up! I wear a US 8.5 and the medium fits my feet perfectly.

where to buy bombas socks
I personally buy Bombas socks directly from their website but they’re available at a wide range of retailers, linked below. Pro-tip: there is usually some sort of deal during the Nordstrom anniversary sale over the summer which is a great time to stock up!
Disclosure: If you buy something through my links, I may earn an affiliate commission, at no cost to you. I only feature things I truly love here. Thanks for your support.
LOVE Bombas! I have really bad circulation but found “medical” compression socks sooooo uncomfortable (…and so not cute, too), but the compression socks from Bombas are so much easier and more comfortable to wear.
They really are the best socks!
Hello nice slippers but mkes your feet sweat alot
I have never tried their socks but I am really interested in trying their slippers. They look so cozy!
I haven’t tried their slippers but I bet they are great!
I started buying these for my kids. I had sticker shock, but they LAST. In fact, I can pass them down to from my older to my younger son and they wear them every day! They’re incredible socks.
I’ve been wearing Bombas for a little over a year. While they are very comfortable, I have other socks that are also very comfortable at a fraction of the price. The difference? They are stylish….. and after one year, the Bombas are falling apart. All of the ones I have which is 5-6 pairs. When pulling them on, my fingers have started going right through the fabric. Quality? Nope, but they ARE comfortable and stylish so if you think that’s worth it for one year of wear then have at it. I’ll be shopping for better quality and longer lasting socks.
I bought them for the first time . Love them and bragged to everyone how my feet felt great. Developed a hole in the middle of one sock on the bottom.Would buy again, just wondering if that has happened to anyone else. Very surprised by this .
The Gripper Bombas don’t come in half sizes, for example 9 1/2 women’s. So if you are a half size, you are out of luck, Either you wear one up a size that is too big and slips around on your feet, or you wear a size down and it’s too tight. Very disappointed.
I think it is terrible that you are forcing people to donate socks! your price is so steep that the consumer is paying for their socks and the donated pair. Bombas is getting credit for donating the socks when it is the consumer! I cannot afford your socks! I think your company is rude and stupid!
I think you’re confused and maybe in the wrong place. No one is forcing anyone to donate; Bombas donates all on thier own.
