Winter Beauty Update.

There is something about the change of seasons that makes me want to freshen up my beauty routine a little bit. On the skincare front my skin has already been dryer so I have switched to a creamy cleanser and a heavier moisturizer but today we are talking about makeup! Today I’ve teamed up with Saks + Dolce & Gabbana to share a little beauty update with you. My lip color is the thing I feel most comfortable switching up and I really wanted to try out a deep berry lip for winter. To really pull that off though, you have to keep the rest of your look simple. I went with flawless (matte) skin, a subtle wash of pink on my eyelashes (this eyeshadow quad is amazing), lots of black mascara and a bit of highlighter. The look is a big change for me but simple to create (important to me as I’m not the greatest at makeup, especially when it comes to applying eyeshadow!

Dolce & Gabbana’s new collection has everything you need to get the look. I’m a little shocked by how easy it is to pull off a darker lip – you can expect to see more of this shade in future outfit posts… I think it’s really fun!

Products Used: Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation in Natural Glow // Dolce & Gabbana Creamy Illuminator in Rosa Del Mattino // Dolce & Gabbana Eyeshadow Quad in Fall in Bloom // Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipstick in Inferno // Dolce & Gabbana Black Mascara

I started out by applying the brand’s Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation (Natural Glow is my perfect shade) all over my face using a sponge. In the past I’ve typically been drawn to a more luminous foundation for a more dewy look but I thought it was fun to go matte here – it really complements the deep berry lip.

To add (just a little) bit of glow, I then applied the brand’s creamy illuminator in Rosa del mattino. I highlighted my brow bones and temples and then put just a tiny bit down the bridge of my nose and at my cupid’s bow. I also added just a little bit to my eyelids to act as a base for my eye shadow.

And then it was time to have a little bit of fun with some color!

On my lips I applied the brand’s matte lipstick in Inferno. Like I said before, the color is intense, so keep the rest of your look simple! I applied the first layer carefully with a brush, and then the second layer straight out of the tube.

On my eyes, I used their new limited edition eye quad. I have been intrigued by the idea of a subtle wash of pink on my eyes, and am a little less adventurous with eye shadow so I stuck to the right side of the palette. I applied the pale pink all over my lid and then blended in a little bit of the burgundy color at the base of my lashes upward to get a really pretty ombre wash of pink and burgundy color.

Good point – will be honest, I totally spaced. I will have a post about giving back coming later in the season… my family and I actually donate vs. getting each other presents.
