Confession: I may be the only person in the world that doesn’t like rubber wellies. I honestly don’t understand why they’re so popular. They are cute but so (in my mind), impractical. The tall ones are such a pain in the butt to get off, the mid-height ones left an angry rubber welt in the middle of my shin where the rubber slapped against my skin (it was terrible – it actually scabbed over!), and the lowest ones make me look like I have clown feet.
I used to skip rain boots altogether until I got these from Sorel.
I actually got them a few years ago but realized I never put them on my blog until now. Prior to getting these I would actually just wear my snow boots (if it was cold) or a pair of faux leather ballet flats (if it was warm). Terrible, and the latter option made for some wet feet. These are the best though. The army green color goes with everything, the wedge heel gives you a bit of height, and they are super, super comfortable. They’re on sale right now too!
I also really love my new rain coat.
When I went down to speak at TBSCon in Atlanta, the Joules team gifted it to me and it’s the perfect classic rain coat. It has a fun striped lining and the fit is perfect. The bright yellow makes me a little nostalgic. I had one just like it when I was a kid! If yellow isn’t your thing (it isn’t for everyone!) I also love the navy blue.
Obviously it wasn’t actually raining when we took these photos but if it were I would most definitely leave the Chanel bag home!!!!

This is the cutest rainy day outfit ever – a far cry from what I wear when it rains (aka clothes I allow sacrificing haha). I love the yellow coat and how much it pops out! 🙂

Haha, I’m glad you agree!
Love this outfit. I have the non-rain boot version of these Sorels. I get so many compliments. Looking into the rain boot version now. 🙂
I agree with you when it comes to wellies. Stopped wearing them a few years ago but realized there is a need for it. I invested in a Target version which I will be using them for schlepping around the city on snow days. (My Sorel winter boots tend to get heavy especially after a day of walking … and if you’re wondering, I do walk around a lot during the winter)
As for the rain jacket, I might have to invest in one.
So happy you agree.
I used to have the Sorel Joan of Arc winter boots but found them to be too heavy. I switched to Bean Boots which are just a little less cumbersome!
I gave my Joan of Arc away. I replaced with the Cribou. Still bulky but not as heavy. I’ll look into the Bean Boots. Doesn’t hurt to have a collection of shoes to battle the snow. I’m from Chicago, and like NYC we too get hit.
Yes, especially if you are somewhere cold like Chicago!!!!
I have this rain coat too and it’s SO good. I love the classic yellow color! So glad you’re getting use out of your TBScon goodies!

YAY and YES – it’s the best!!!
confession – you are not the only person who hates rubber wellies. they are so hard to walk in and then when you get to where you are going in your huge boots you have to put find a discrete place to store them and change shoes or clunk around in them the rest of the day. No thanks! Love this option from Sorel.
I am so happy you agree!
Are the wedges comfortable? I have been looking at the leather Joan of Artic wedges because my feet get so cold in the winter, but my commute has a lot of walking, and I worry that the three inch wedge might be tough to walk a couple of miles in. Thanks!
Hi Anne, Yes – they are so comfy! I said so in the blog post!!!!
I don’t know about walking a couple miles in them (that seems too long for anything but sneakers!); but I’m fine with my 15 minute walk to the subway.
Thanks! Must have missed it in my quick read
I love my Joules raincoat! It’s the perfect size, great quality, and has the cutest print. I get compliments on it so often, which is crazy for a raincoat.

Agreed on all fronts!!! I get so many compliments, too! A rain coat is a funny thing to compliment but I guess it’s hard to find a good one.
You look gorgeous and your boots are to die for . They are cute too. They wouldn’t look bad on me, you know??
Thanks! They are the best!
I don’t understand why rubber wellies are popular either! I love the idea of sharing good rain day outfits! When it comes to rainy days I find it hard to find anything cute to wear at all, but I am so inlove with this yellow jacket! Thanks for the great inpso!!!
Thank you Emily!!! Love a good pop of yellow 🙂
I don’t like rain boots for the same reason. I have to check out these boots, the olive green color is nice! I really like this rainy day outfit.
thank you so much!
You might consider wearing a pair of Tingley stretch rubbers they are very light to wear easy to put on and takeoff. I like to wear the storm rubbers, a tongue goes right over the shoelaces to protect them from getting wet and soggy….. in the winter, there is a 10 inch rubber boot one can wear over shoes, adding extra warmth to your ankles on the blustery day. you will find them to be very inexpensive on eBay and Amazon. I agree the yellow raincoat is very attractive and functional.
