What are you doing for New Year’s Eve? I didn’t have anything planned so decided to throw a party. That’s what happened last year and it ended up being so much fun. Living here in New York, I find a house party is always the best way to spend NYE. No pressure, dealing with overpriced taxis or heavy cover charges, or paying a million dollars for a mediocre meal. Just fun at home with friends. I will make a few of my favorite appetizers, buy a bunch of champagne, and we will probably just wind up playing board games all night. Cozy and fun and But no matter what I’m up to, I always, always dress up! Even just for board games!
I will probably wear this Rixo sequin dress. It’s one of my favorite pieces in my closet and sequins just feel right for New Year’s Eve. Also, if you can’t be a little flashy (borderline tacky?) on NYE then when can you? Below I’ve rounded up a few other favorites (including some fun other ideas and six under $100 options!), but if you can swing it I can’t say enough good things about this dress… it’s the absolute most perfect party dress. I’ve already worn it to so many events but it’s really the only thing I want to wear!
Outfit Details: Rixo Dress (also here or get the ombre look with this much less expensive find, or this equally awesome ombre number!) // Vintage Fur, love both this and this faux fur option // Manolo Blahnik Pumps // Chanel Purse // Kendra Scott Earrings // Monica Vinader Bracelet
What to Wear on New Year’s Eve
This Ganni sequin wrap dress is pretty amazing (also here) and another contender (I ordered it!) is this pink velvet + sequin dress. Honestly, the pink one could go either way – it’s either going to be amazing or super frumpy… I guess we will see! I’ll be sure to do a try-on over on Instagram when it gets here! ASOS does sequins so well. I also love this mini and how good is the cut on this asymmetrical lilac number?!
A few more fun ideas:
This Rixo Sequin top is so good (I have it, see it styled in this post!), this sequin headband will make even jeans and a tee NYE appropriate, or try this sequined cami (seriously tempting: I have 4 of her camisoles as they are the best/most flattering basic silk cami… I’m sure the sequin one would be amazing!)
And a few (mostly!) under $100 options – clockwise from top left:
Gold Halter (v Studio 54!) // Black Midi Dress (looks like Rebecca Taylor for way less) // Bronze Sequin Dress (love the swingy, looser cut – there’s nothing worse or more uncomfortable than tight sequins!) // Copper Midi Dress (my personal pick, looks much more expensive than it is, and you could belt it!) // Velvet + Silk Burnout Dress // Black Spaghetti Strap Dress (also comes in a pretty gold color)

I love all the shimmers! I’ve been really feeling the sequin trend this winter. Would make such a nice party dress on New Year’s Eve! 🙂
