Weekend Reading 9.5.20

Happy Saturday. I don’t have a lot planned for the long weekend, but that’s kind of nice. I have dinner plans tonight and tomorrow and am otherwise planning on doing a little work. A few projects around my apartment, and reading… a lot. I had a few really intense days of work this week so I’m looking forward to being very very lazy. I hope you have a great long weekend!!!! And PS – All the best Labor Day Weekend sales are in this post. I’ll keep updating it. xx

Weekend Reading, 9.5.20

What it’s really like to be single during COVID. Was excited to contribute to this.

This cute plaid top just screams Fall. Pair with sweats for the perfect zoom look. 😉

The ten most anticipated novels of Fall. I have a lot of these on my list. This list, too!

You know how much I love my Zalto wine glasses. I came across this article while I was doing research for something else and felt validated: they are a huge splurge but really do make the wine taste better. The zones also cracked me up.

This piece from Krystal is a must-read. It was simultaneously deeply relatable and also heartbreaking.

My fav green plaid tote is on sale at Nordstrom. The colors are so good.

All your voting questions, answered.

This $18 Amazon blouse came in the mail this week and I love it. Thinking of picking up a few more.

I looove a good panzanella salad and Samin Nosrat’s recipe sounds like a must-make!

WOW – this rental kitchen makeover is incredible. I am so impressed.

Did you see that Vuori now makes their much beloved joggers in LONG!? I’m v v happy about this.

Great news:

The CFDA has created a Black advisory board.

This cute little straw bag is on sale for just $27. Love the crossbody strap!

I love the idea of tiny anchors. Coffee is definitely one of mine too.

On being kinder to your face.

Madewell has such great white shirts and I love the looks of this one.

Helena wrote a beautiful love letter to New York.

I ordered this simple gold VOTE necklace this week… love! It already shipped so hoping it comes sooner than advertised.

USPS and the election.

Loved this peek into the Obama White House.

Cute puff sleeve top alert.

Think I need to make this green detox lemonade… it sounds yummy.

Another very cute dress from H&M. Been so into H&M and Target this summer.

Tips & tricks for making the most of your fridge.

Dog owners vs. cat owners.

I love layering inexpensive beaded bracelets with my nicer jewelry.

This is truly excellent books to TV show news! I’m very excited.

I truly do NOT need any more masks but this ruffle one from Loeffler Randall is so pretty.

Jenn rounded up the best productivity apps. Also loved reading her + Bob’s love story!

The best comedies on hulu.

Madewell has reimagined one of my favorite totes in woven leather. So good.

Oh this grilled peach and tomato salad looks delightful.

I like the looks of this long and soft tee from Free People. More tunic tees, please!

What should a museum look like in 2020?

Love this tiny, very colorful home.

Worth bookmarking: Sephora just launched a new “clean beauty under $20” page.

How to quickly declutter a room.

Great links, as always! Reading your links has become part of my Saturday morning ritual and I really look forward to it. Hey, speaking of reading I always appreciate your recommendations. Recently, a friend gave me “The Lager Queen of Minnesota,” by J. Ryan Stradal. So good! It’s kind of this under the radar book, people who know it love it fiercely. The first three pages are as good as anything I’ve ever read and the rest is great too. It would be a great Bad On Paper selection.

Thank you, Grace. I love your weekend reading links and have been appreciating how you speak out about Black Lives Matter. I’ve been looking to do more around the elections and found a good resource that you might like called Black Voters Matter. They do text banking that allows you to text from your computer and is reaching out to likely voters to help them work through voting challenges. Things such as – helping black voters in AL to register to vote by mail or texting unregistered people in GA or PA to encourage them to vote. They use an online tool so it isn’t coming from your phone number and it is easy to navigate! Here is the link: https://blackvotersmatterfund.org

Tried to read the article about being single but was quickly turned off by the words that if you’re not “I have no empathy for you.” I think we should ALL have empathy for each other now, and respect all situations, knowing that we’re all dealing with change, frustration and heartache. That’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned this year. Be kind, be empathetic…we’re all dealing with things the best we can in our own way ❤️

Aw that’s a bummer! It’s a great piece and that sentence is such a small part of it/how Jess writes – she can be quite irreverent, but to each their own.

Loved this weekend’s roundup and am here for all the book recommendations for fall. I think I will add “His Only Wife” to my reading list, it sounds like a great read.

Also, thank you for sharing Krystal’s post. It’s the first time I come across her blog, but I am sure I will keep going back.
