Weekend Reading 7.13.24

Happy weekend. This week’s list has lots of good things to click on. And such good recipes! I’m dying to have a dinner party and make that hanger steak… and then peach semifreddo for dessert. Summer recipe bliss. And I really loved learning how celebrity book clubs really work. I hope you are able to have a slow and relaxing Saturday. xx

Didn’t really learn this till my mid thirties after having melanoma, but the only two ingredients that actually block the sun are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These work. You can use a beauty blender to rub them in, but you’ll still be greasy. Elta MD probably has the best ones.

As a European I often see Goop sunscreen used and recommended by American influencers and so I thought I would try it. When it arrived, it was missing one of the standard markings of a protective sunscreen. I was confused and started googling to discover that it didn’t meet all of the EU sunscreen benchmarks (based on science) and so couldn’t claim in the EU to offer full UV protection. I was once again profoundly grateful to be in the EU as until that moment I had taken for granted legally required accurate sunscreen labelling. So back it went though I am sure the texture of it is as lovely as I have heard!

I actually bought the $20 tie front top…I was on the fence and thought the gaps in the front were too big. I tried a variety of bras but could never find one that looked intentional enough to keep it. But I did love the price!

As usual Grace, your weekend reads will keep me busy when I get a break. They are almost evergreen fun for me. I just started 2 books: Matchmaking for Beginners and The Real Americans. I do one physical and one audio. Both are gems. I’m also eyeing linen, but in sheets this summer. On my wishlist.
