I had pasta for dinner almost every night this week and I feel great about that decision. Most nights I just did a simple spaghetti with butter, parmesan, lots of salt + pepper, and fresh basil from my Aerogarden. YUM. (I’ve bookmarked this list of easy salads for inspiration for next week!). I am planning on a very chill weekend. I have been working on making my patio a nice place to hang out and am enjoying spending as much time outside as possible. Also, I have six tomato plants and an eggplant I’m growing as well as some other little lavender plants, and I really enjoy just sitting out there in the sunshine, reading or listening to an audiobook with my plants. Whatever you are up to, I hope it’s great, and that you’re able to take a little time to recharge your batteries and unwind. XOXO
Weekend Reading 6.13.20
I made these cookies & cream cookies this week and they are DELICIOUS.
I have my eye on this rattan beach chair – I love that it has a carrying strap, making it perfect for the park or even just laying out on my patio.
A reader (thank you Janet!) pointed me to NPR’s Book Concierge as a great resource if you’re looking to read more diverse books. I love the filtering system.
I rounded up some of my favorite Black artists on Thursday but I also really loved Honestly WTF’s roundup… Erica has such a good eye for art and I loved learning more about the artists she featured.
This magnetic shelf (stick it on the side of your fridge) is life changing for those of us with small kitchens. Adds so much space for odds and ends.
Love these healthy breakfast ideas.
I spent way too much time researching this, but I ordered this acrylic frame to frame my puzzle! I love that they make it custom in any size, and that you can choose the hardware (I got gold bolts!)
Jacey has amazing style and I loved seeing her summer capsule of her top 10 pieces. I love that linen sweater.
Still need a fabric face mask?
Buy one from one of these Black designers.
Katie Kime launched a New York City toile print and I love it so much. It’s weird that I haven’t been into the city (except walks across the bridge) in over three months. Naturally I love the white + green pattern. I’m considering both the phone case and the ice bucket!
Oh my goodness Half Baked Harvest did a recipe for homemade goldfish and I’m dead.
I’ve been really loving this body scrub and this body butter from a small Black owned brand. Formulated especially for dry skin and eczema.
Feeling tired of pandemic cooking? SAME. Here are some easy recipes to make!
A great list of thrillers and mysteries by Black authors!
My FAV clean retinol (as seen in yesterday’s post!).
Just signed up for this newsletter, which offers a daily 30 second read about self-care and sustainability.
I’ve been using and loving this (gifted!) olive oil so much that I went back and bought this set of three bottles with my own money. Hitha raves about the chili oil but I’m actually most excited to try the lemon one!
A brief history of baths and bathing culture.
How to make nachos for breakfast.
Yes, you heard that right.
A pretty (and very affordable!) summer maxi.
Claire and Erica featured this in their newsletter: save your butter wrappers for greasing pans! What a smart idea.
Living in my embroidered Bad on Paper sweatshirt! It’s a great price and you can get anything you want on yours.
Alicia rounded up an incredible list of Black content creators to follow.
Incredible drone footage of sea turtles.
This is such a pretty ($49) blouse.
The racial reckoning in women’s media.
Want something happy and fun? Go follow these incredible cat accounts.
Yum! 5 salads to throw together in minutes.
I bought this white midi dress this week and am obsessed. The perfect little sundress.
How to support Black women in the workplace.
The easiest $30 button down. I ordered a couple colors/patterns.
Such a gorgeous, colorful Milan apartment.
Makes me (even more) proud to work with Sephora.
Weekend Reading is my favorite part of Saturday morning. Thank you for putting this together every week!
Aw thank you for telling me that!
Thanks for these links! Have a great weekend Grace! 🙂

Hi Charmaine, you are so welcome! Happy weekend!
The link isn’t working for the list of thrillers and mysteries written by Black authors! Really looking forward to that one! Thank you!
Sorry! It was an instagram post. I think she deleted it and reposted – here you go – https://www.instagram.com/p/CBTg1YWAJX9/
Hi Grace, I listened to your podcast this week, and while it’s more mystery than thriller, I’d recommend the Blanche series by Barbara Neely (it starts with Blanche on the Lam). It’s been awhile since I read them–I learned about them through reading an article on alternatives to The Help, around the time that book/movie came out, but I remember finding them interesting!
Thank you so much for the rec!
Grace— thank you so much for continuing with your blog over these past few difficult months. It is such a bright spot. I like how you take joy in the little things (like a great bowl of simple pasta!) while not dismissing the big issues that are the backdrop to our lives these days— it is inspiring. Your weekly roundups are really the best of internet escapism; don’t know how you top it every week!
Can’t wait to see your patio once it’s done!
Thanks so much Chelsea! Hope you had a great weekend. xx
Happy weekend lovely x
