Weekend Reading 4.11.20
love these signs in McCarren Park.

How was your week? It was okay over here! I feel like I write the same thing every week. It’s a lot of ups and downs… just taking things day by day over here I would say. Yesterday I posted some tips for those of us living alone during quarantine. And we’ve had lots of other fun content around here (are you liking the homepage makeover? The new beauty hub?) as well as a list of good sales that are happening right now. It’s been hard to concentrate and I feel like I’m behind on all my work and just always so distracted. But I’m doing my best? I need that on a sweatshirt. Just one that says, “I’m trying!!!” in big letters. Ha ha.

LOOK at all these (very fashionable) non-medical grade face masks.

My new favorite pullover. (Sizing note: I take a medium! If you are between sizes go up. The best part of it is the long slim cut – I always find pullovers to be so boxy).

Amazing news for fans of The Selection! (And if you aren’t already a fan, READ THESE BOOKS! It’s The Bachelor meets Hunger Games and the reason we started our podcast. You really only need the first 3 as book 4 + 5 are a spinoff.)

50 *free* self care ideas – love this list.

Blair’s HOUSE! So good.

Do I need tie dye socks? Probably not. Do I want them? YES. (Currently half off!)

Loooved Erica and Claire’s roundup of cool games + crafts. They have such good taste.

Love these distressed tees; currently half off!

Ahead of the 2020 election we are seeing YA novels get way more political!

So many questions about my cute fabric lips face mask. It’s from one of my fav small businesses, Cece Dupraz. I love it so much!

How to create a healthier home office. Also, the best shoulder stretches!

I seem to only wear hoodies now and this powder blue one is so cute.

It may be time to start organizing all my books.

The best microtrends (like baking bread and fluffy coffee) brought on by stay at home culture.

This $28 Target midi dress looks like Zimmermann!

This article about what a post COVID-19 world could look like was actually pretty optimistic and thoughtful.

Cute gifts to send your friends.

I LOVED Allie’s apartment makeover.

The paint makes it look like living inside of a beautiful pink jewel box!

The only product I wear on my face most days.

This was everywhere, so you’ve probably already seen it but I love “Some Good News” with John Krasinski. In this week’s episode, the whole cast of Hamilton got together to perform. It was incredibly moving.

Doing all of the Andy Warhol puzzles!

It was fun learning a little more about Candace Bushnell and her life.

I live in this top for zoom calls! Looks dressy but it’s just a sweatshirt.

Nonfiction podcasts to check out (they’re not true crime!).

Technical instructions for not washing your hair.

These bright green sandals make me happy!

Four ingredient recipes!

Loved Merritt’s roundup of easy meals to make during quarantine.

Have you picked up a pair of “pandemic pants” yet? Old Navy just restocked a bunch of sizes and colors.

A reader sent me this: a cool way to support indie bookstores by shopping online.

This oversized tee looks so cozy and comfy. I love the fading.

My sweatshirt logo would be “I’m surviving!!” Between my husband and I both attempting to WFH, chasing after a 3yo, and and and yep that would be my logo Hahahaha! Blair’s house was so good! Those socks are really cute, but $16?! For socks?! Grace, pretty please do us all a favor, order some tie dye supplies and cheap white socks, tie die said socks, and chronicle it for the blog so we will know if this is a unique and fun crafting idea for isolation time or a horrible idea that will end in needing a new rug.

Ha ha, they are half off. Right now I’d probably rather spend $8 on the socks than buying white socks and tie dye supplies. But maybe I’ll get bored! (Too worried about ruining my rug/tub/etc!!)

Love the idea of young readers getting political messaging through leisure reading! It’s so inspiring to think of all the new young people who can vote in 2020.
