Weekend Reading.

stripes7

Happy weekend, friends! Truth be told I have been a bit down in the dumps this week and I can’t seem to pinpoint exactly why. Maybe it’s the end of summer, maybe I’ve been a little bit lonely… I think it’s a bunch of things just piling up. Regardless, I’m really looking forward to one last weekend out in the Hamptons with girlfriends… (and this time, Christine is joining us – yay!) I hope you have a wonderful weekend… soak up that sun! Can you even believe that next week is already Labor Day Weekend? I can’t get over it! PS – I just started reading this book last night and I’m really enjoying it so far. Mitch Albom is such a talented author.

Sydne’s had a lot of useful content over on her blog. I loved her instagram editing tips (who knew Facetune could be so useful!?) + networking tips!

Makes me want to move to Charleston.

I bought this linen sweater last weekend in the Hamptons and can’t stop wearing it. It just went on sale. So long + comfy.

Love this classic summer look on Carly.

Self Portrait’s new arrivals are so good. Love this contrasting lace dress.

I forgot how amazing (so amazing) these peel pads are!!! Perfect for travel, too.

I loved reading Lindsay’s (all natural) holy grail beauty products.

Loving these (under $100) suede sandals. They come in 8 colors!

I’d been looking for some good podcasts to listen to while I edit photos… Meghan had a good round-up!

Adored Will’s feature on my sister’s book. It comes out next week(!!!)

Best workout leggings ever.

Really loved Alden’s open letter (about blogging, getting paid, + the value of what we do)… so much YES to everything she wrote.

My friend Briony wore this dress to dinner on Thursday. I loved it so much that I immediately ordered it.

Professional etiquette: how to send + receive email introductions. A must-read if you use email. 😉

I love my foam roller (especially as someone who runs a lot and lifts weights… it’s so necessary). Here’s one more reason to use it… it can actually make you leaner!

Loving this simple, slouchy blouse.

The best interior designers to follow on Instagram.

Loving this embroidered striped top… the details are so good!

How to recreate 5 really cute outfits. Also from Mackenzie: this reading list!

I liked Liz’s words on staying motivated (and her cute outfit) as I’ve been in a bit of a rut myself.

This wrap sweater reminds me of something I would have worn to dance class when I was little. I love it.. it would be so cute layered over all my dresses + skirts.

How to go to bed earlier.

Great round -up as usual Grace. You will move to Charleston, the question is only when. Sorry, I’m kind ofpyschic or have really strong intuition. 🙂 I also think your “husband” might be waiting for you there. But what do I know?

Really liked Alden’s article and wish that all brands would read it! I did find it a tiny bit insulting that she seems to be kind of disparaging bloggers with lower traffic, and said so in my comment. I might be misreading what she said, but I appreciate very much the overall message anyway. We all deserve to be paid for what we do, and even though my traffic isn’t extraordinarily high, I have put a ton of money into my blog just because I love doing it and want to do the best quality work I can. Hopefully brands appreciate that along with the traffic aspect!

Aw I can understand that (and assure you that, knowing Alden personally, I’m sure the last thing she meant was to offend – she’s incredibly humble, nice and down to earth!) That being said, having been on the brand side (and having friends still on that side) please know that your value is still immense. You create gorgeous, high-quality content over at York Avenue AND have built a loyal and engaged community. That speaks volumes. I think a lot of times brands would prefer to work with a smaller blogger who has an engaged and loyal community. 🙂 It’s usually more affordable, and also let’s them be really highly targeted.

This is a great read about the power of the mid-tier blogger… have you seen it? http://www.racked.com/2016/5/23/11703698/mid-tier-bloggers-whatvwore

Anyway– hope you had a great weekend! Xoxo

Grace thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. The Racked article is definitely encouraging..I think/hope that there are opportunities for bloggers at all levels and it’s really encouraging to hear that someone with your level of experience and success agrees. I really appreciate your response, hope your weekend was great too! xoxo
