If you get my weekly newsletter, I mentioned feeling a little stressed/psychotic yesterday. So, I did something completely counterintuitive and something I never do. I took most of the day off. I got a manicure/pedicure, went for a blowout (granted, these were both blog events) and then went to an art showing I’d been dying to check out. When I got home (at 2:30pm) I was motivated, inspired, and actually, incredibly productive. I’m not saying that you should do this very often, but it helped. This weekend is going to be spent catching up. Today is a working day more or less, and tomorrow is a close friend’s baby shower. Whatever you are up to, I hope it’s great!!
Also, you guys… I’m really excited. I joined a CSA! As I travel a lot, I just went with a bi-weekly plan… but I am hoping this motivates me to cook more (and to brainstorm yummy + healthy dishes using all of the amazing local/organic produce I will be receiving). If you live in NY, this is the one I joined… you can sign up for it here!
For the New Yorkers… these food secrets are kinda unreal!

Art seems to make us use the part of the brain that inspires and regenerates us. Speaking for myself I find looking at art in a gallery or online, changes my mood for the better !
I think you are totally right!! 🙂
Love this list! And how fun about the CSA, can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Love this! Taking a break and doing something for yourself can be so incredibly helpful! And that is so exciting about the CSA. I’ve looked at ones in my area for years but haven’t joined yet. Maybe next year!
Love your blog and I’m glad you got some rest but – I really take issue with people using the word “psychotic” as you did here. I’m a clinical psychology PhD student, study first episode psychosis, and see clients diagnosed with it for therapy, and I can assure you, it’s devastating and not at all similar to you feeling kind of frazzled for a day. I understand you didn’t mean to offend, I’m just hoping you might think twice the next time you use that term.
Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry – I had never thought about it like that. Will definitely think twice next time around.
