Weekend Reading | 12.21.19

happy weekend! This is my last weekend at home before the holiday madness. I’m going to my parents’ house in Charleston on Monday for Christmas, then flying from there to a wedding in San Diego, and then from there I am going back to Charleston for New Years’ Eve! My only plans for the weekend are to go to Carly’s holiday party tonight and seeing my cousins tomorrow.. otherwise just finishing up shopping (I was bad and waited til the last minute) and getting organized before I head out of town. Whatever you’re up to I hope it’s great (and festive!) xoxo

Love so many of these links! Regarding setting family boundaries… in my experience, it’s just easier to set the boundaries with your spouse/yourself and stay calm and collected. Trying to communicate these things to my in-laws /parents has only created drama. They take it as a personal affront that you want to do something “not normal” or against the status quo. So now, I just smile politely to intrusive questions and we set boundaries on the things we just decline because we do not want to partake. I realize they certainly still talk about how “weird” we are when we are not around, but alas that says more about them than us 😉

P.S. I will say I am a bit jealous of the amazing relationship Grace has with her parents. Cherish that!!
