Happy Monday! I’m entering the week feeling v-e-r-y energized. For one, I’m on an early flight to London this morning for a press trip with Monica Vinader! I’ll be on the press trip for three nights, and then I am going to see my friends in Northern Ireland for three nights. SO excited.
The second reason is that I had the most productive weekend ever. I pretty much worked the entire time (save for an incredible dinner at Shalom Japan with girlfriends on Saturday night). That might seem a little depressing, but now I am ahead on work and am ready for this trip… and, after shooting a bunch of upcoming projects + content, Carter sat down with me to teach me how to edit my videos. As you might know, video is a huge priority for me/the site right now. I’ve been working with videographers to shoot a lot of stuff for my Youtube channel, but until now I didn’t know how to actually produce videos on my own. I still have SO MUCH TO LEARN but spent a long time practicing, as my goal is to film a few vlogs for you while I’m abroad.
While I have you, the first video that I have made all on my own is up. Remember how I went to the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx last week? I brought my camera along and made you a little video. It’s far from perfect, but you can see how beautiful the gardens + roses are this time of year… and a few of the gorgeous Chihuly pieces. View it here!
Anyway, this look is pretty much all I want to wear right now. The comfiest high-waist jeans (Frame is a favorite right now), my favorite sneakers, and an easy duster jacket. My jacket is sold out now but I have linked to a ton of similar options at the bottom of this post.
Outfit Details: Topshop trench (similar) // Madewell Tee // Frame Jeans // Vince Sneakers // Sézane Gaby Bag // Celine Sunglasses

Sitting down with Carter this weekend was a reminder of how important (especially when you work for yourself, and it is a little easier to become complacent and keep going with the status quo) it is to always keep learning. Last year, it was email marketing and this year it has been all about video. Making videos for the blog has always felt a little bit intimidating and overwhelming, but I know it’s something you guys really like.
Having someone spend a half hour with me to show me how to do it was the most helpful thing ever. As I wrote in this post, I try to spend an hour learning one new thing every week (even if it’s just a new gmail hack or an editing app for my phone). It doesn’t always happen, sometimes life gets in the way, but when I set aside that time to learn something new, I never, ever regret it… and I usually end up more productive and/or better at my job because of it.

Totally understand how you feel about having a productive weekend. Having work done and prepped for the future always makes things better – and now you can fully enjoy your trip!

Thanks, Rach! xx
Hi Grace,
I really recommend investing in your YouTube Cover Thumbnails. If you put your face on it more and use your name on the title, results will be more faster.
For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPWcrCD2UxA
If you had a thumbnail of a upclose shot of yourself and flowers, it will be more impactful. People usually click for a ‘face.’ It would be great if you show more of yourself on the video. 🙂
Another thing is the title:
Yours: The New York Botanical Garden!
If you change it to: Leisure at New York Botanical Garden with Grace Atwood | The Stripe
Your name and blog is recognizable, it will drive the SEO on YouTube and Google.
Hope this helps. x
Love this everyday look – and obsessed with that Sezane bag! Can’t wait for some of your vlogs as well 🙂

Thanks, Carrie!!!
Love the outfit… So i’m in the market for a Sezane Gaby bag. I’m turn between the black leather and the cream leather. Do you find that your bag gets dirty easily and unable to keep clean?
Mine hasn’t gotten dirty!! I think you’ll be fine as long as you aren’t particularly hard on your things!
I am on the fence about the Gaby bag! Did the it’s chains pull your hair or smell badly after a while??
