Besides all the family time in Charleston, my other favorite thing about living here right now is the WALKS. Charleston is the prettiest town and during an hour long walk you can go from everything to being by the ocean, wandering past historic homes and cobblestone streets, wandering through tree-lined parks, and ending up in the city’s bustling downtown area. The only thing is, the weather this time of year definitely keeps me on my toes. There are days where it’s in the low seventies, and days where it’s in the thirties. So I wear a lot of layers. I love being outdoors but I hate being cold.

Walking Favs With Backcountry

I have teamed up with Backcountry today to share some items that have been essential on my walks and would make for great gifts. I like that Backcountry clothes are fashionable but still casual and functional. Backcountry is a premium retailer for top outdoors and lifestyle brands and stock some of my absolute favorite brands like Patagonia, Beyond Yoga (the softest yoga pants I own), and more recently, Blundstone Boots.

Also! Backcountry has partnered with The Nature Conservancy since 2008 to support its mission of protecting the lands and waters on which all life depends. I love how easy it is to donate to The Nature Conservancy upon checkout at Backcountry.com.

Lastly: Backcountry has their Gear & Apparel promotion happening this month, where select styles are up to 40% off through 12/20. AND, for anything not on sale, you can also use code THESTRIPE15 for 15% off your first order at Backcountry.com (exclusions apply).

OK, Blundstone Boots live up to the HYPE!

My sisters both have them and I’d been curious about them for a while and when I saw the Chelsea boot style I knew they were just perfect. They are so comfortable, perfect for all weather (they’re fine when it rains, etc) and just an all around great everyday boot. These would make such a great gift as they are something the recipient will have and love forever.

This jacket is amazing.

It’s perfect for the weather here right now. It’s lightweight but then when the weather drops, it’s still warm. And it’s also water resistant and as I didn’t pack a raincoat, it’s been perfect! My mom is so cute and asked me if she could have it when I leave but I am going to buy her one as it’s the perfect lightweight parka and I absolutely cannot bear to part with mine! When I get back to New York I will definitely layer this under some of my parkas and teddy coats for added warmth and insulation.

Everyone I know who has Blundstones raves about how they can walk all day in them. I’m going to have to give them a try. This whole look is great, Grace.

Are these the regular black boots? Just trying to gauge which color to order!

I have that same Patagonia jacket – in the same color! – and it’s great in all the ways you list, except the DAMN ZIPPER!!!! You know what I’m talking about……

Oh no! I actually haven’t had any issues but have been wearing mine open!

      • Kristine Bjerke says 12.17.20

Ha! It gets stuck in the adjacent fabric almost every time it’s zipped. Every time I’ve seen people with this jacket, it’s the first thing they say about it – funny.

Your eyes look especially sparkly in these pics!! Nailing the smize.

Hi Grace! How is the sizing with the boots? Do you feel that they run true to size? Love this whole look!

What are your cute socks!? Just ordered the boots.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.17.20

They’re the amazon ones I always wear!!!! Just put a link to them in stories but they’re also in my amazon shop under fashion favs. 🙂

I’m into this outdoorsy outfit! Those boots are such a cute style for staying warm but not looking like you’re going on a legit trek.

    • grace at the stripe says 12.17.20

Yeah, exactly!!!! I am definitely not a typically “outdoorsy” person, but a sleek parka and comfy but still chic Chelsea boots are my total vibe!

I’m trying to decide on a blundstone style. These Chelsea boots look great! Did you consider any other ones? It feels a bit hard to pick based on website pics alone!

    • grace at the stripe says 12.17.20

Hi! I know, there are so many styles! I chose the Chelsea as I wanted a low flat boot for walking that was practical but still elegant enough to wear around NYC/BK when I get home. I will say that I also liked this heeled version!!! https://shopstyle.it/l/bpXgf

Love those boots! I haven’t shopped at Backcountry, but they seem to have really nice outoorsy pieces that would even be good post-ski!
