Visiting Angkor Wat + Cambodia’s Temples.

Visiting Cambodia was one of the best trips I’ve taken. Back in New York, it’s hard to believe I was actually ever there. But I was, and it was an experience that I will never forget.

I (well we, but it ended up being just me) booked a full day sunrise tour with Poy Pines (if you’re looking for an English speaking tour guide he is your guide) and we did the four big sites:

Angkor Wat, Angkor Tom, Banteay Srei, and Ta Prohm (aka the Tomb Raider Temple).

PURE MAGIC. I can’t even begin to explain how incredible this part of my trip to Asia was. Seeing the sunrise at Ankor Wat was magical, getting lucky strings from the ladies outside of the buddha at Angkor Tom… it was just the best ever. And (this is not an ad, something comped, or anything), but Poy Pines  was the best tour guide ever. He took a ton of photos for me, filled me in on all of the important sites and historical bits… it was awesome, I learned SO MUCH. Highly recommend this day. For everyone.

I am sooooo not a morning person but getting up at 4am for this sunrise was completely worth it!

I completely identify with your line about how it can be hard to believe you were even in such amazing places once you’re home from vacation…especially if I’m back in the office the next day & reminiscing that “less than 24 hours ago I was eating pizza in Florence” and now I’m chilling at my standing desk lol.

Hi! What camera do you use for your photos? (I noticed it pictured in some shots of you as well!) I’m in the market for a new one.

It definitely felt different, once you’ve made it to Angkor and all of the other temples around Angkor. The vibe and ambience felt like you’ve gone back into history. Glad I was able to visit my home country last year. Great pics!

omg I loved this post Grace! It totally transports me back. I LOVED Cambodia when I went. The morning we got to Angkor Wat there was a rainbow over it. It was a very surreal moment. Love all the photos!
