Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2016.

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 20164

I look forward to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic every single year. It’s started to feel a bit like it is the unofficial kickoff to summer. An all-day affair… and more importantly, the greatest excuse to put on something fabulous and drink champagne in the sunshine with some of your closest girlfriends. Is there anything better? Leading up to the event, I’d been rather nervous about the weather… the forecast was predicting rain, which would have been such a bummer. Lucky for us, the weather held up and we had a perfect (very boozy, natch) day of blue skies and sunshine… I even got a little bit of a tan! This was my third time attending. It’s fun having a blog as I can easily look back upon past polo adventures… here are my posts (and outfits) from 2015 and 2014!

Speaking of wearing something fabulous… I wore this awesome ombré green dress from Banana Republic and this epic headpiece from Hat&Love by Cherubina (a super cool Spanish company that makes the greatest hats) and my go-to block heel sandals from J.Crew – comfy and easy to walk in on the grass.

If you go to polo next year, I have a few quick tips…

  1. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear. Once you step off the ferry, it’s a fifteen minute walk to the grounds. Stick to flats or very comfortable heels. And no stilettos… you’ll be walking on grass!
  2. Bring LOTS of sunscreen. This was the first year where I didn’t get a sunburn. On that note, stick to a simple neckline… last year I ended up with a horrible bow tan line on my back as my dress had a bow in the back!
  3. Bring cash as there are amazing food trucks! They take credit cards but the machines can be slow.

Obviously the giant checkerboard required a mini photo shoot of its own. Don’t worry… the bottle was empty! 😉

That skyline!!! Gets me every time. A big thanks to Veuve Clicquot for having us… I loved being your guest!

Loved getting a look back at your past Polo posts. While I don’t have a blog, I would imagine that it’s fun to have a little visual history of past events, etc! Thanks for sharing. One of these days I will get to polo!!!!
