We had such a nice time in Dallas. It was the last leg of our tour which was bittersweet but fun. And I got to see quite a few friends while I was there – just to name a few: Merritt, my bestie from college Sarah, and Katie!
We stayed at The Statler in Dallas.
I loved staying with them. (disclosure: The Statler gifted us a two night stay in exchange for sharing our experience on the blog + social media.) The rooms were really nice, the bathtub was fantastic (I still miss it, ha ha), and their room service menu was EXTENSIVE which we of course loved. You could basically get anything… I recommend the grilled cheese + tomato soup combo. The rooftop was especially beautiful though – I wish we’d had an extra day to lay in the sun, hang in the pool, and have a margarita or two. (I will let the photos below do the talking!!!)
On our first night, we went to dinner with Merritt at Tulum. I had seen it on her instagram and had begged her to take us there! It was delicious, especially the appetizers. I had an amazing watermelon cocktail too. Highly recommend! (The decor is also phenom – lots of plant motifs and palm leaves!!)
I brought along two books for this trip: Modern Love and Such a Fun Age.
I wasn’t able to start Such a Fun Age yet (it sounds amazing and is a contender for one of our winter podcast picks) but I finished Modern Love this week and it’s just amazing. And I can’t stop recommending it to anyone who will listen!!!
If you loved the TV show (or the column or the podcast!), you’ll absolutely love the book. The book contains the eight original essays that inspired the TV series (it’s really fun to see what sort of creative liberties the producers took!) AND plenty more. It would make a wonderful gift as well!
See what I mean about that Statler bathtub? Beyond. I took zero showers and three baths during our stay. I know I make a big deal about bathtubs when I travel but when you live in a New York apartment you definitely grow to appreciate a good tub (since most New York apartments don’t have very nice tubs)!
Wearing a Rixo dress!
This one is a from last year but still available here (and in a pretty white pattern here + here). Rixo has become one of my fav brands for statement pieces… I have a few sequin dresses + tops from them and just ordered this (really pretty!) pale blue top… I can’t wait to wear it with high waisted denim and a fun shoe.
Also, I’d be remiss to point out that I got my hair done at DryBar and they did such a good job. I lovvvvve DryBar products (they smell so good and the purple shampoo is the BEST) but don’t have the best history with their salon. I was really, really happy with how it turned out – it actually ended up being one of my favorite blowouts ever. Oh and we hired Alexa Mason to do our makeup. She was really thoughtful (aka didn’t just cake it on) and sweet and made us both look really natural and glowy.
Up on the roof – SO pretty! We snapped these photos right before we left for the live show… I wanted to stay and hang out!
My dress for the live show is from Figue (gifted) and my heels are Sarah Flint (of course! If you buy a pair of Sarah Flint heels you can get $50 off your first pair with my code, GRACE50!)
Had to end it with a bathtub photo. Maybe this is my signature thing now?

Looks like you had a great time! I love your dress as well, it looks really good on you! 🙂

You and me both!!!!
Grace you look amazing! Your hair, makeup, everything!
Thank you so much!!!!
Hi!
I notice you have beauty blender case?? I’ve never heard of these! Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks
I like it!!! They gave it to me and I don’t know if I would have bought it with my own money but it keeps it from getting squished and also from getting any of my other things dirty!
TIBAL linked to one yesterday from Amazon – it’s the same as my BB branded one but the Amazon one is called Beauty Baggie. I’d recommend it for travel!
Oh interesting!
I’ve struggled a little with DryBar too! Love the experience and the products but don’t always love my hair. What did you ask for to get the look here? Your hair looks awesome!
I just told them loose messy curls with no volume on top!
Hi Grace, so glad you could make it to Dallas! The live show was wonderful, just like I thought it would be! xo, Caroline
Oh GOOD! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!!!
What was the scent of Jackson vaughn candle that you loved/discovered at Merritt’s? I’m in Dallas and ran across the Society Candle store selling all the JV candles. Was super tempted by a holiday one but ended up with the Ft. Worth scent.
It was the Hudson scent!
That hotel sounds amazing! Congrats on another successful live show, friend!
Thanks so much Jenn!!! xoxoo
You need real people!lm 65 I’ve tried to much so I just give up!!
