While in Tulum, I spent three incredible nights at the Coqui Coqui Residences. Today I am going to tell you about the hotel, and tomorrow I will tell you about the Perfumery + Spa, but I should probably just warn you now that I won’t be able to do it proper justice. No words, no photos, nothing can properly capture the beauty of this place.
The residences are set right on the beach. In Tulum, there is basically the town, and the beach. Running parallel to the beach is just one dirt road… the main road. I entered Tulum with grand plans. I was going to swim in the cenotes, visit the ruins, and see the jungle. You guys… I didn’t do any of that. I was so captivated by my hotel and the beach that I didn’t really leave… save for dinners and a few nice walks. I could be ashamed about this but really I just see it as a reason to come back soon.
The hotel is rustic and elegant, the epitome of “eco-chic,” which is a term you will hear quite frequently if you visit Tulum. Everything is so simple, but decadent at the same time if that is possible. The hotel is entirely solar powered (so cool) meaning dimly lit rooms (it was hard putting on makeup so I just decided to skip makeup for the rest of the week.) And there is a restaurant on site, at which I enjoyed many a margarita, ceviche, and fresh juice with breakfast + lunch.
I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like this place… I hope that my photos can convey even just a little bit of the magic!
Every day I would wake up, throw on some clothes, and have some juice… enjoying this view. The sand is white and as fine as powder.
{The courtyard. I had a room on the ground floor that faced into the courtyard. When I come back I want to get a beach facing view… I heard the views from the top floor are extraordinary… especially when the sun is rising.}
{My lovely bedroom. I loved that there is no TV… just a beautiful stone room with a big bed and a canopy. The rooms do not have air conditioning but I had a fan and I kind of liked just relying on the breeze.}
{I can not wait to return.}
Looks like a dream! I must go.

I was there last week also! At Be Tulum… heaven. May have crossed paths with you when my husband and I bought candles at Coqui Coquii on Thursday (just before the rain!).What an amazing place!
My handbags aren’t quite beach appropriate, otherwise I would have been carrying one, hoping to run in to someone fabulous like yourself! Love the blog.

Absolutely lovely!
Hi Grace!
Is it safe for a 30something woman to travel alone to Tulum!? Thinking of doing a spa yoga retreat for myself after reading about your travels! Please let me know.
Hi Katie,
I think it definitely is… I’ve been by myself and had an amazing time! As always it’s important to be careful when traveling alone but I had a great experience!
