We’re into the dog days of summer – it’s been so hot out! It’s bad here in the city and Charleston was especially hot. Right about now, I am a) craving all of the tropical things (as referenced here!) and b) really enjoying staying in with friends in my nice cold icebox apartment. Today I’ve put together a fun little tropical tablescape. I just about squealed with delight when I saw all of their flamingo and pineapple things… they are so fun – and perfect for summer! Last month’s table was a bit more coastal and preppy… this time around, we went a little bit wild.. bring on the sangria!

In putting together the tablescape, I started with a bright base – this yellow table runner. And then it was all about layering. I started with these fun palm leaf place mats, and then piled on a rattan charger, a white plate, and then (the best) this fun flamingo plate. I am so obsessed with all of Pier 1’s painted glassware…  I mixed and matched the pineapple wine glasses and flamingo tumblers with some Pier1 glassware that I already owned. And back in the rotation… my favorite gold flatware, spotted in this post!

To further add to the tropical mood, light some fragrant pineapple candles. Last but not least… how fun is this pineapple snack bowl? I am obsessed! I’ve said it before but Pier 1 has become my favorite place to stock up before a dinner party… they make it easy to put together creative and fun dinner parties without spending a ton of money.

On the Table: Yellow Table Runner // Palm Leaf Place Mats // Rattan Charger Plates // White Porcelain Plates (such a good staple and only $5!) // Flamingo Plates // Gold Flatware // Green Napkins // Yellow Napkin Rings // Palm Frond Tray // Pineapple Snack Bowl // Clear Tumblers // Flamingo Tumblers // Painted Pineapple Wine Glasses // Plain White Wine Glasses // Candles

On Me: Mi Golondrina Dress // Lisi Lerch Earrings // Eddie Borgo Cuff // Vita Fede Cuff

I’ve taken to freezing strawberry puree and putting the cubes in sparkling water. It’s a yummy alternative to a cocktail and so refreshing right about now.
