This time of year my calendar is packed with either weekend trips to visit friends and loved ones, or housewarming parties (Is it just me, or does everyone I know have an 8/1 or 9/1 lease!) For that reason, today we are rounding up the best hostess gifts! I always try to remember that my host is probably a bit stressed. Your goal is to make his or her life a little easier. So if you bring flowers, have them pre-arranged in a pretty vase. If you bring cheeses, maybe include a pretty cheese board (I love this one!). If you bring a candle, bring pretty matches. You get my drift.
My personal go-to’s are luxe, reliable, and a bit predictable: A bottle of Veuve, or one of my favorite candles (depending upon the recipient – a black candle from Coqui Coqui that smells just like sunscreen + the beach, or Le Labo’s Santal 26 (a woody scent that smells just like the Gramercy Park Hotel / the drydown of their famous fragrance, my beloved Santal 33). For bonus points, add a chic set of matches.
Another thing I love to give is a chic book. The Big Book of Chic is a good one, but depending on the recipient’s personality this, this, this, and this make for a great gift as well! And also, a shameless plug for my sister’s book, which is coming out so so soon!
These also all make great Christmas/birthday presents for a mother-in-law in my personal opinion… classy and a bit predictable! 🙂
