Happy Monday! Today we head back to the city from our little mini getaway in The Finger Lakes. Family time is just the best. I will share more about our trip in the next week or two, but this was my first time seeing my sister Meredith and her two boys since early February… so nice!

This week is going to be a short but busy one. I am “off” today (I scheduled this post ahead of time), and then tomorrow have two big calls with Amazon to a) finalize our Fall collection and b) kick off planning the summer kaftan I’m designing with them. And then I have two podcasts recordings (Katharine McGee is joining us to talk Majesty) and two big shoots for upcoming projects. Hectic but exciting! Hope you enjoy this week’s little list… lots of good things to share.

H&M

Okay I realize that H&M is (of course!) NOTHING new, at all but my girlfriends and I (the “sorority house,” which if you are new here is a term we use as 2 of my best friends live in the same building as me) have been hitting H&M HARD this summer. Three greatest hits are this palm leaf dress (top), this pink dress (above), and this little puff sleeve number. I find their sizing is very roomy, I took a small in all and they’re all quite loose.

Museums

One thing making me really, really happy is that New York’s museums are slowly reopening. The Met opened its doors 9/12, The MoMA is already open, and so is The Whitney! The Guggenheim is opening up 10/3 (with special member access a few days before). In most cases you have to book a special slot online so definitely refer to each museum’s website for more details but wow – this is huge and something I’m really looking forward to taking advantage of ASAP.

The Bombchel Shop

I shared this on Instagram but absolutely love this Ruth Bader Ginsberg mask (it’s reversible too!) from The Bombchel Shop! The company’s mission is pretty cool, too: creating fashion (and MASKS) from bold African prints purchased locally in West Africa. Products are made Monrovia, Liberia, by an all-woman staff of Ebola survivors, rape victims and the deaf. So incredible. Besides RBG they sell a ton of other really cool and unique masks – I love this colorful pride mask and this dramatic, shiny gold one.

Jess Keys Vote Tee

Jess Keys Vote Tee

My friend Jess designed the CUTEST rainbow vote tee with Alice & Wonder. It’s available in size XS-4XL, so soft, and better yet 10% of the proceeds from this shirt will be donated to Vote Save America’s Every Last Vote fund to support on-the-ground efforts to mobilize Black, brown, indigenous, and other marginalized communities that are routinely victims of targeted voter disenfranchisement efforts. LOVE. It’s got a slouchy fit so size down if you want it to be fitted but I took a medium and am very happy with the fit!

Partake Cookies

Partake Cookies

When Venita came on the podcast (listen to her episode here!) we asked her to share a few of her favorite Black-owned small businesses and one that I didn’t know about yet was Partake! They’re gluten-free, vegan, and allergy friendly. I am none of these things but was still curious as she really raved about them. I ordered the soft-baked variety pack and they’re delicious.

Strongly agree! Love your blog Grace & I’m sure that it’s probably tough to balance posting things that are in an accessible price range with slow fashion options, but as a fan who is trying to commit to stealing clear of Zara/H&M/Amazon because of the environmental & social impacts, I’d definitely appreciate seeing your more environmentally-friendly picks.

Hi! Thank you guys for the feedback. It’s always going to be a mix around here. In the summer I tend to shop more affordable brands and in the Fall I tend to invest more in my wardrobe. It’s how I’ve always shopped but especially this summer… I’ve wanted cheerful, happy new things without spending a lot of money. But I appreciate your feedback and definitely plan to feature some more high-end and eco-conscious brands here as well! A few of my more sustainable favs are Aliya Wanek (incredible sustainably made apparel and Black-owned), Naadam cashmere (truly so soft and luxurious), and also Thredup, Poshmark, and the RealReal for shopping secondhand. I always try to have a happy balance here but if you are looking strictly for sustainable options, I HIGHLY recommend my dear friend Jess Kirby’s platform (Jessannkirby.com) I believe she only features sustainable clothing and clean beauty! xx

I listened to the podcast with Venita, loved it, and her openness and honesty! I had purchased the cookies at Whole Foods, trying them because they are allergen free, not knowing the story behind them. They are YUM! The birthday cake flavor is my fav and my daughters too! so, so good!

Just ordered that awesome VOTE shirt… I’ve been looking for one that donates the proceeds to a great cause and this is perfect!

Additionally, my first bottle of Bader just arrived from the Violet Grey sale and I’m so excited. Thanks for always having the best recommendations.

Hi Grace, I recently found your site from Carly. I am LOVING Majesty. Even more than American Royals which I didn’t think was possible. Can’t wait for the podcast. How do we keep up with the other books you’re reading?
