Happy Monday. I hope you had an amazing weekend. Mine was really nice – we did so many of my favorite New York things which is definitely a treat as I move two weeks from Wednesday… how the heck did that happen!?!
This week, I do not have a lot planned. A walk + cocktail date with a girlfriend, a shoot tomorrow, podcast recordings, and otherwise just getting stuff done and getting ready to leave and hopefully enjoying some nice weather again (fingers crossed that it sticks). As the weather has been a bit more tolerable I have been slowly getting back into running (the keyword there is *very* slowly) which has been rocky but feels really good. Running was always such a big part of my life when I was younger and I have such an up and down relationship with it… it feels good to just run more casually and have fun with it again if that makes any sense! OH on that note thank you for all the athletic mask recs. I ended up buying these and really like them so far!
This Week’s Good Things, 3.15.21
Zuzu Sparkling Cocktails
My friend Aminatou knows the amazing team over at Zuzu. When we had our first friend date a couple weeks ago, we met or a cocktail and I mentioned my love of tequila. She passed my address along to the brand and they were kind enough to send me a few bottles to try and oh my goodness… these are the dream. Zuzu is clean sparkling cocktail made with 100% agave spirit and fresh citrus juice. 90 calories, 5g sugar, 5% ABV. If you know me or have followed a while, you know passion fruit is my most favorite flavor (this passion fruit marg is still one of my most favorite cocktail recipes) so I obviously love that one but the lime feels like a lighter version of a margarita!
Karin Olah
How gorgeous are these paintings from Karin Olah? I love that she incorporates (hand dyed!) textiles into her paintings. Liz Lidgett (we talked about her two weeks ago) carries her work in her gallery and I love it so much. I also love that she is Charleston-based.
Dusen Dusen Beach Towels
My love for Dusen Dusen (and all of their striped things!) is no secret. I am a superfan of this (Brooklyn-based!) brand. I have the pink and green stripe bath towels and a few hand towels in my bathroom and they just make me the happiest. So I was so excited to learn of their new beach towels! Big, oversized, and cozy… and I mean, you can use them for the bath too! So so good.
Julia Turshen’s New Cookbook
Oh my gosh, speaking of being a super fan – Julia Turshen! This week, Becca and I have the great honor of interviewing her for our podcast and it is just. such. a. great. episode. It comes out on Wednesday. I desperately want to catfish her into being my real life friend (and cooking all the things together). I have all of her cookbooks and her newest one, Simply Julia, is my favorite of them all. It’s all about my favorite thing: healthy comfort food (the best!)… but it’s also very personal, as in between 110+ recipes she includes some deeply personal essays on things like body image, anxiety, fat-phobia, and more. I cannot recommend this cookbook enough – it’s so much more than a cookbook! Also, the lists. The lists are SO GOOD.
